AA requires 2 CA on flights over 16 hours

as buck said, UA does on certain flights too.

i think FedEx has flights where 2 CA are required as well

Prior to the contract restructurings during the airline chapter 11 era most airlines carried two Captains on flights over 12. Why it went away for everyone but Delta at that time is a bit of a mystery. At a union roadshow a rep told me the company simply never asked and they did not want to bring it up.
Delta also still uses 8/12 hours for crew augmentation break points. Most everyone else uses 9/13 hours from FAR 117.

At my old job we napped in the cockpit. Most international carriers have an SOP for it. So 2 pilot crews to transoceanic flights were not a big issue. But I reckon this could be a rabbit hole we may not want to go down in.

Edit: I would be ok with it as long as they don’t bulldoze current rest rules to their benefit.

Hawaiian requires 2 CA’s if there is more than one landing in the duty period (which currently applies to PPG & PPT).

You must have worked for a Foreign airline. The FAA has always and still forbids sleeping in a control seat.

Operational reliability. Lose 1 of 4 to a sick call and the jet can still go. Tech stop into a recrew and continue moving. Only 1 CA and that CA calls out sick? Well you are stuck. Think Joberg or Cape Town. Can’t do that all the way to ATL with 3, but you can get to BOS with time to DH 2 pilots in to get it home. That’s my understanding at least.

The safety culture, pay, and QOL the Unions have built in this country for Airline Pilots are are nothing short of amazing. It's sobering the sacrifices made by those preceding us(many individuals profiled in the Flying the Line series) for us to enjoy the benefits we do today. At Emirates anything more than 15 days off is viewed as stealing from the company. At Qatar a pilot can be fired for looking at a "Chief Pilot" the wrong way. Most airlines around the world FOs make $3000-$4000 a month. Cabotage is the number one threat to that and it must be stopped at all costs. Hope everyone is, no matter how little, contributing something to back the PAC.

I did. And having been working for both international and US flag carriers, there is no measure to how much better we have it here in the States.

It’s fun flying with former ME captains who thankfully came back home the last few years. Without exception they’ve been awesome guys and it’s wild picking their brain the whole trip about how things work over there.
