Isn't MNL a visiting friends and family(VFR) destination? I think that low yielding traffic keeps getting funneled thru ICN.
I think every fast.growing economic center are good targets. Vietnam with all the manufacturing moving there is probably a good bet along with Singapore and Hong Kong. More cities in China also a good possibility:

Largest Chinese Cities by population
- Shanghai: 24.87 million
- Beijing: 21.54 million
- Guangzhou: 18.68 million
- Shenzhen: 17.56 million
- Chongqing: 15.87 million
- Tianjin: 13.86 million
- Wuhan: 13.52 million
- Chengdu: 16.93 million
- Dongguan: 8.46 million
- Nanjing: 8.50 million
- Shenyang: 8.32 million
- Hangzhou: 10.71 million
- Harbin: 10.63 million (included in top 10 most populated cities)
- Suzhou: 10.72 million (included in top 10 most populated cities)
- Zhengzhou: 10.35 million
Shenzhen’s close proximity to Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Macau has lead to the other cities having service instead of Shenzhen. However Shenzhen is a major manufacturing center as well as the home of the second largest financial center in China behind only Shanghai.
Any route to the US from SZX would have zero competition right now and in my opinion be an immediate success.

I have more experience than most with Shenzhen and in my opinion Shenzhen should be the first city we expand to. It is under served from the US. Only one flight to SEA on Xiamen Airlines existed pre pandemic.

UAL last expanded to a new Chinese market with Chongqing (#5 on Trip’s list). I think they selected there because they are limited in total routes to China they are allowed to fly and they already served HKG, which is extremely close proximity to SZX. Think EWR and JFK. The cities are even connected by subways, but there is a full on customs border crossing. Once the Chinese have fully integrated Hong Kong, that will in effect be one large city.
I’ve been through SZX a lot, and it is begging for a direct US connection.

For those who don't have X/Twitter, there were shots of the 350 in an accompanying video...
Regardless, international expansion is good for us all. A rising tide lifts all boats...

UAL never flew to Chongqing. At peak they were flying Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chengdu, and Xian. Chengdu was due to Apple's manufacturing facilities in the area. So far Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong returned. In any case, China is a totally different animal post-pandemic. I highly doubt we will see pre-pandemic demand to China anytime soon.

So does a storm surge. There may have been a better metaphor option for today.

Delta Air Lines, not Delta pilots will push further into the pacific. Our involvement mostly ends at partner hubs. Look for more ICN service from LAX and SLC.
BBN, MEL and SIN have been tossed around since the 35k order was announced. I'm optimistic, but look toward CDG and AMS for my answer.
