Unless I’m misreading, he isn’t saying they came from turkey, he is saying if that kind of attack happens in a more western and secular Turkey, imagine a layover in the place where 15/19 hijackers came from and the country responsible for the brutal assassination of Khashoggi. Which would make sense because the topic he was talking about was layovers in Saudi Arabia after our new partnership with a state owned Saudi airline.
and I don’t think a delta crew needs to worry about laying over in Saudi…I’m betting Riyadh Air is going to do that flying and Big D will move planes somewhere else to keep covering the global scope spread.

you better avoid HNL too! They have tweakers and even more homeless… every US city is sketch, you just need some street smarts.. don’t go to the gas station across the Motel 6

At a certain point “feeling safe” is an internal perception. Why do you feel safe in XYZ city that has quantifiably worse crime than SF. Has anything happened to you there? I get that homeless people are unpleasant (especially LA and SF ones, they seem more aggressive), but the numbers don’t seem out of line with many other US cities. I lived in Philly for 7 years and it seemed like it was worse there (my perception only).
im a Juniorish ER A so I’m a San Fran 24 hour layover machine. I always feel safe there and walk around a ton. Sometimes Uber up to Marin County for a long hike then take the ferry back from Sausalito. Sometimes go to a giants game. Sometimes get sushi then have a whiskey and cigar at the Occidental.
the layover I feel the most unsafe at is in buckhead because I feel like I’m going to get run over crossing the street in that concrete jungle.
The two measurable drawbacks to SF is it’s expensive, and the drive to the hotel is long.
SF is a great layover and I will die on this hill.

Philly and Frisco (don't say that to a local) are both great cities. Both have been very sketch at times when I was there and both have been awsome. As an NFL NFC fan, I hate them both. That said, SFO over PHL on a layover because there's more to do and easier to get out of the city grind. I spent time with family in both this summer and never felt unsafe but both were dirty and the homeless were a bit much. (sparing everyone the nasty details)

Where are the current ETOPS NEOs flying? Just Hawaii, right? From what I understand Hawaii is a very big leisure/rewards miles travel market. Highly doubt we’d put a bunch of extra super-premium seats on that market. These D1 planes are for the high volume coast-to-coast business markets.
