Some CAs likes to overwhelm their FOs for stupid things.
Most FO’s have regional or previous airline experience, and they SE Taxi way more than Delta. I don’t think anyone is overwhelmed if they have to.. maybe on the 73 though

That's reason enough. I think we're leading the charge in those events. Probably those guys saving that extra 3 gallons of Jet-A.

Is not about overwhelming with the engine start, is about giving them time to think everything.

Most of the Nh I’ve flown are previous military and need some part 121 training or extra time to get everything ready. Anyway the 320 keeps high N1 to keep AC flowing so starting 2 engines “saves” more fuel than just using 1.

track your fuel burn for taxi out for:
-1 engine + Apu
-1 engine no apu
-2 engine

ill betcha for the typical Atlanta type no delay all 3 are within 60-90lbs.

the idle bump for 1 engine no apu is significant

you can’t outthink airbus

the idle bump plus APU usage are nowhere even close to the idle of two engines. Even running at breakaway thrust on the running engine is less than idling both.

Default 737 Max Update

March 10 (Reuters) - Delta Air Lines Inc anticipates that the deliveries of the Boeing 737 Max 10 aircraft to the airline could be delayed until as late as 2027, Bloomberg News reported on Sunday, citing an interview with the company CEO Ed Bastian.”

“Delta is "comfortable" with protections it negotiated against possible delays in its contract to buy the Max 10, Bastian said, declining to be more specific, according to the report.“

I hope the "comfortable with protections" means we will start with MAX 9s. Otherwise with the 220 parkings and 321NEO delivery slow down, hiring would slow down even further. On the bright side 350/330 deliveries continue and all parked 717s being returned to service so it unlikely Delta stops hiring completely as others have

I'm almost wondering if Delta is happy for this pause in deliveries because it keeps supply tight as demand for air travel is softening a bit.

I don't care if Delta stops hiring. Honestly, with the breakneck hiring of 5000 pilots since the scamdemic, and the amount of low qualified and underperforming FOs that Standards has been seeing, we need to slow down and get back behind our skis. We don't want to be United with a wreck on the news every week.

As for the MAX, I believe it was never more than a place holder. Hopefully they convert those orders into something more useful. Like 787s to replace the 76ERs and 765s.
