A350-1000 and other Fleet News

It matters to me! I non rev often to STT. I should say used to non rev. American no longer has 757's for the market. There are no extra gates available. As a result American has gone from 195seats to under 130 for their STT flights. Even the A320 won't work. They are mostly 319's to PHL, JFK, CLT and a 737-800 to MIA. The only upside is I have bought so many tickets that I am platinum.
When Delta pulls the 757's even more seats will be lost and fares will increase.

Flew to STT yesterday. Left full out of ATL and right up to 38,000 feet. Landing distance available 6592. No problem for the 75! It's amazing machine and hope it stays for years to come. I'm sure bean counters take into consideration the fuel price when selling seats on a 757.
How many here drive a gas guzzler getting less than 20 mpg vs a prius? Same concept. Cheaper to pay more for gas for a paid off airplane then to save gas money by buying new airplanes.
Maybe because I was on the 717 but I was tired of doing CLT and MCI turns. Prefer destinations and trips on the ER

idk man. A **** load of 757 flying in Atlanta is not better than 320/737 mid pack trips. Thankfully I’m senior on this fleet to avoid that ****show.

I love how every 3-6 months we have a multi-page argument about the 757. Never fails. I fly the thing and I could care less about most of these topics. I like the international and island trips and pay (even though it’s about the same as 320 now). Comfort of 320 looks nice and probably what I will upgrade on later this year.
The only thing I’ll look back on with 75/76 is the fun ass trips I got to do. A lot of diversity and interesting mixes…international/sports charters/domestic/island etc. Very well may never be a fleet diversity like this ever again in our careers.
But I won’t brag about the performance. I really don’t care. Yes I can look back to one hand on how many weight restricted issues I have had. Almost never. But in reality is that a huge deal to me? No not really. Most people don’t care. Whatever trips/seniority/base is like 90%+ of why people bid. Only goobers are out there placing bids to fly a specific fleet type to say they did.

We currently have 28 350s in service with 36 more on order. I don’t think it’s unreasonable at all to suspect we will eventually fly our largest and longest range WB out of our second largest hub.

Flown most of our underperforming yet efficient other planes to include the big buses. Nothing, nothing ( other than the 777-200LR and maybe the 350-1000) comes remotely close to the capability of the 757. Nothing.
