We have CPDLC and a few 900s have Satcom as well.

Being a captain makes the job much more relaxing and predictable to me. Would recommend.

Thanks. I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure how to respond to everyone at once but I really appreciate the replies! I'm 5'9" (my wife likes to say I'm 5'10"). I'm leaning towards the 737. I'm ver lucky to be ~50% this quick in my career so I might as well take advantage of it and enjoy the ride. It's hard to give up my current gig. I love the 330 but I know I'll enjoy being a CA even more. I enjoy setting the tone, i like to relax and have a good time while keeping safety number 1, and most importantly i miss taxiing. I could taxi a jet around for hours and never get bored haha. I'm thinking we'll see an AE next week.

For my base, the 737 left seat would put me around 50% and the 717 would be near 60%. The 320 would be around 75%. I'm a short guy so I've heard the 737 wouldn't be too bad. I'm worried about the loud flight deck noise though. The 717 seems great but I know retirements are happening sooner than later. The easy transition would be the 320 but I kind of want to try something new and I like the 737 trips better and would have the best seniority.

Is the 737 really that bad? I've heard horrible things about the plane but from my research it doesn't seem that bad. I really like the trips. Caribbean flying is a new concept for me and I would like to try it. Does the 737 have all the cool features such as CPDLC? How are WATRS? All I really know is NAT flying. Is it an easy flying airplane like the Airbus? I like the idea of the -10 in a few years too. I'm a 1-2 leg kind of guy. I don't care about having a yoke or anything like that. Is the HUD cool?

Anything I should be afraid of when it comes to the 737? How about the 717? If I got the 717, are we keeping them for a few years at least?

I know I asked a lot of questions so I'd appreciate any tips or advice anyone may have for me.
If you're senior to me, the 73 is terrible. You have to move two switches and turn a knob to start the engines, which, according to airbus guys, is harder than juggling chainsaws.

If you're junior to me, the 73 is just fine. The engine starting procedure is the same as the bus from the left seat anyway..."Start em both".

The 737 MAX 10 is delayed until 2026 or beyond so the 73 fleet will be stagnant for a while while 321 NEO deliveries continue although that may be slowed down somewhat by P&W issues. Both fleets should still enjoy movement because of additional widebody deliveries but the 320 may have more forward momentum due to the fleet growth.

717 should see brisk movement as Captains bid up for better pay/trips on the bigger narrow bodies. 717 is mostly short hop RJ flying but if seniority is of upmost importance that may be the best move.

I’ll be surprised if we see the MAX10 by 2027 if ever. I don’t see the 757 fleet going anywhere anytime soon.

This is true, because when the 757 is retired what are we going to fly to Florida?

Airplanes are like pilots, they all go to Florida shortly before retirement.

Can anyone recommend a good portion of FL to relocate to. Mrs Dragon would like beachfront but my powerball numbers haven't played out so far.

beachfront? Your wallet better contain millions. Even in the “cheap” parts.

People joke about the 757 being the state bird of Florida but as I look at the trips once you get alittle bit of seniority in either seat there is some cool flying that no other fleet offers because of performance requirements(UIO, EGE, STT etc). Plus there always international flying come Summer time. Also the short course to the 765 is another bonus.
