Haven’t forgotten to start down yet but I know my time is coming.
Since we’re learning new things about the Airbus on a mostly anonymous forum:
Why can’t we manually enter a speed on the climb page like we can on the descent? Is there a workaround other than pulling a selected speed?

Pulling for selected is pretty much the best way. Like so many Airbus things, the why is probably buried in some fight among designers 30 years ago and decades of inertia since.

This has always been a question I've had as well. As automated as Airbuses are, the lack of this simple function along with having to manually push for a managed descent for an altitude constraint are decidedly glaring omissions in its capabilities. Minor, first world problems in my opinion but still kinda "WTF?". Still love the jet though.

Holy hell, who cares about having to push ONE button that you don’t in the Boeing??? Is burning those 0.0000069 calories from pushing into the FCU really that exhausting? It’s not like we’re seeing waves of busts and near-misses from people forgetting to start down. And many Boeing pilots opt to hit DES NOW, then EXEC….which does the same thing…and uses (gasp) two button pushes!

and...
What's a crosswind? I haven't seen one in a year or more. (Another function of 1-2 landings/month)
I also know guys that haven't de-iced in 2 or 3 years.

There its 10+ mile finals constant descents. ATC works the spacing very fine, everyone flying assigned speed, seems to work out nicely. Can't figure out what the issue here in USA is. Nothing like coming back to DTW from a 12+ hour flight and get slammed behind an RJ flown by sky pest doing FAS at 8nm out. Nice job there ATC, nice job Sky pest. "Delta 158 Hvy go around".
