I’ve flown Boeing, Airbus and McD. I find the FMS on the Airbus perfectly acceptable. The Boeing box is marginally better in only a handful of ways. The McD box on the 717 is pretty close to an Airbus box. The only things I really miss about the Boeing are the VSD and managed descent in heading mode. But Boeing can keep those for the comfort and size of the Airbus cockpit. “So Much Room for Activities!”

That's what JVs are for. I haven't flown either one so my only interest is profitability and I think the right decision was made because every net dollar is a dollar towards my profit sharing. I hear the same nostalgia from F-16 guys. Yes, it's a great airplane but revenue generation sucks and I can never get a jumpseat.

The 350 really does not need a humidifier. It's cabin is noticeably more humid with the lower cabin altitude. Flying it, I do not like that dry feeling like I had on the whale at all. In fact, United is considering removing their humidifiers from the 787's because of mold issues. Would you rather breathe in that crap or slightly less humid air?
The 350 really is a dream to fly much more comfortable in the cockpit (especially than the whale) but also the triple 7.
98% of the time we can fly no problem from DTW to Asia, carrying all the passengers.
bottom line... you more junior guys are gonna love flying the 350 for years to come!

A somewhat interesting fact I was told on my last trip. The difference in empty weight between ship 3501 and ship 3519 is 6000 lbs.
Airbus is continually tweaking and revising the 350 as they build them. This is also what has enabled the NPS ships coming out with the wider and longer interior.

As a former Boeing to a current Airbus I realize you must “embrace the suck” that both manufacturers bring to us. I hated the cockpit in the 737, two men in a phone booth during a hurricane. Now I am on the 330 - The land of the bulletin and a FMS designed by a sadist. I just hope the 350 does not have the RR engine issues the 330-900 has - pathetic.
Are these issues temporary and RR is working on them or is it seem like it will be permanent?

I agree with you but I think people are dreaming if this changeover point is going to happen soon. This is going to take a while to transition. I’ve already noticed some ER transatlantic routes moved to 350/330 but the bulk majority is still there. I’d say ER still will have some good bid packets for another 2 years and beyond that things will deteriorate rather quickly with retirements and growth deliveries.

Too much to list. Sky net 330 page has tons of stuff, also the safety summaries in Aerodocs has an occasional gem. In the last two days an Airbus safety review of why a bus started to rapidly descend with the AP on after the Pilot hit TOGA - WTF? Remember this is put out by Airbus.

But it’s ok , Airbus will come out with a 9 page bulletin on how to avoid what it is currently programmed to do.
Another post by an experienced 330 Captain about how when you start a managed descent more than 200 miles from your destination the box will trick you into thinking it’s looking at a constraint - but it’s not. Excellent!
Oh yeah, PPOS. One P too many.
Boeing lost their way but the FMS is far superior.
The 900has compressor stall issues that can result in a huge performance hit. Think payload optimization on flight thousands of miles shorter than published range.
Scoop - just my humble opinion.

I agree but 2 years is the blink of an eye. I expect to see another announcement in the next 12-18 months that we exercise the option for the 20 350s and maybe add a few more. The 330-900 is a bit puzzling. Not sure if we know exactly what we want with it and how many.
