A350-1000 and other Fleet News

I’m no Trip, but assuming all 767s are retiring without assuming we order more planes (or at the very least, exercising our 20 options) is a bit pessimistic.
Facts are, the 767s don’t have a retirement date and will still be here when the 20 A350s arrive. Thats growth.
I agree though, we will need another order and I also agree we will see small, incremental orders.

EB said on the Earnings Call the 350-1000's are "20% more fuel efficient than the 767-300's they are replacing..."
In addition, GH just said that the 767-300's will definitely all be gone this decade, on a pretty "consistent" decline. He also seemed to say the -400 would be gone too, with it leaving international service in '28, and gone by 2030, but it was hard to follow that poorly worded question. That would be news.

Delta plans to pull 767-300ERs from longhaul international flying by 2028, and retire the planes by 2030, President Glen Hauenstein says. 767-400ERs will continue flying into the 2030s.

The only thing I heard relative to ER was that in 2025 their "Heavy D" checks begin to come due. I think that's nearly $20mil per jet, if I remember the conversation correctly. Apparently this is a virtual strip down rebuild of the aircraft. So I guess the question is do you rebuild a 30yr old aircraft and still get 30 yr old performance and fuel burn or do you go with something else? Do you let that entire segment go and just cover with more 321 NEO, perhaps XLR...I don't know. Glad I don't have to figure it out, but from my very uneducated cheapseat, it would seem that a 787-6 is the closest in terms of size and pax...maybe overkill though.

They're not the same animal.
I honestly don't see us ordering a replacement. JFK service to secondary non-JV airports (EDI, NAP, PRG ...) will either be cut back to every other day or be abandoned. The big busses are too big for daily service. I can see KEF and SNN going to a 321 whatever-eo. The 757's will eventually be relegated to Latin American airports that require their performance (MEX, BOG) and the Florida shuttle.
Forget the 787.
