A350-1000 and other Fleet News

I don’t claim expert status on this subject, but as I’ve sat and thought about it, I agree with this and what some others have posted about small(er) incremental orders. DL is, if nothing else, disciplined and cautious on orders.

Well, we had roughtly 16 each of A339 and A359 on order already. With the A35K order that's 52 widebodies to be delivered and 66 767s to be retired. If the 20 A35K options are taken up that would be a net positive. When all is said and done it will be a significant increase in pilots at the top paying rate compared to before the beginning of all the A330/A350 orders.
If the numbers posted above are correct, then we're currently sitting at a -14 fleet growth. I'm definetly happy to see more pilots at the highest rate, that is outstanding. But until that -14 turns positive, preferbable by double digits, then the champagne can stay on ice. Based on Deltas propesnity to make smaller orders, I do think it will eventually come, we can drink the champagne then lol.

The 767-400s are not going anywhere without 339/350K options being activated. Delta already is short of WB aircraft.

Facts are, the 767s don’t have a retirement date and will still be here when the 20 A350s arrive. Thats growth.
I agree though, we will need another order and I also agree we will see small, incremental orders.

We don’t do splashy 100 plane orders, but everyone saying we were going to be left far behind on slots and we are taking the first in 2-ish years. AND with the engine MX contract that we want with every new order. Maybe our negotiators don’t suck….
Now back to standard pilot complaining.
