Quote: I don't think the door is unique to the max. In fact I think the Delta 900's have the door and might well be grounded for inspections shortly.
We've been operating the NG 900 for roughly 10 years with not a single plug door problem. Alaska also operates the 900 but only elected to ground the MAX9 so that tells me the aren't worried about the NGs. We may do inspections but over time which wouldn't require a grounding.

It will depend on what they find. There is some discussion that Alaska worked on the door the day prior so it might not be a Boeing issue.

Quote: so I’m going to bet that the Max deliveries get delayed after this Alaskan flight… Boeing really can’t manufacture a decent plane these days
The MAX-8's don't have the plug.

The Next Gen 900's do though, and all of Delta's are plugged just like Alaska's

It's not a door....it could be depending on cabin config, but Alaska and Delta (and many others) have it plugged.

From the inside, you have no idea there is a "door" next to you....looks like any other non-exit row.

On the Eskimo forum they are saying the plug "door" is permanently secured to the fuselage at the factory. If it is "permananetly" affixed, why would anyone at Alaska maintenance be working on it?

That is my understanding as well from my time on the 737.

Seals leak, might have been a leak and they pulled the plug to check it.

Edit: It does not look like they worked on it. Not sure what light they are discussing.

I believe they are referring to the red "Cabin Altitude" warning light (normally associated with intermittent horn)

Why would that come on after landing?
