Slow is the cause as far as I know, however it has the least margin of any airplane I've flown. You are pretty much limited to ~5 degrees of picth. The tail clearances are measured in inches on a 140 foot airplane.

Don’t forget that Boeing got to redefine Vref from standard 1.3 Vs to 1.23 Vs.
this helps Boeing publish shorter landing distances.
Vref 800 is aft body clearance based, 1.3Vs flaps 30 and 1.26Vs flaps 40
vref 900 is flaps 30 aft body tail clearance (1.25 Vs); flaps 40 is stall margin (1.24 Vs)
don’t land slow

"There is one deal, which is very important and big," he said. "We've made the deal. It is not announced yet."

When Delta orders aircraft things are a bit more nuanced than other airlines. Delta often wants a piece of the back end action via maintenance contracts ect... They don't walk into the showroom and say "I will take that! Where do I sign?"
Take a look at the book value of current US airlines. There is a reason Delta is valued far higher than any other US airline and it's not just from flying passengers.

SJS and they are not even announced as being purchased. WOW! It will be an incremental order so they have leverage in 2027. Don’t plan on any BIG multi year deal. They will at least hold a good portion of this as a carrot or stick depending on how you look at it.
