We currently have the highest number of top-paying jets available for Delta pilots in decades(?). The globally unloved 339 still pays like a 350, I'll take them by the dozen to replace 767s.

Fewer outsourced jets flying around, also good news.

Outsourcing is so yesterday. Delta is looking to the future elimination with this investment: SARCOS

the 787-9 is a far superior aircraft. its more efficient, faster, carries more and does not have to be payload optimized like the -900. We screwed up ont getting in the order stream.

Oh well, pay is the same as the 350 so what diff at this point does it make.

Look, everyone who's been around this company knows they don't pay full price for new airplanes. They'll wait for a manufacturer to have a problem they can take advantage of and leverage a steep discount, or they'll poach them from a distressed airline that needs to offload the equipment they want at fire sale prices. If none of those opportunities present, they'll just make due with what they have. The 767s will be around for quite a while longer, and there will be no 787s unless some carrier goes TU and offloads some cheap.
