A350-1000 and other Fleet News

My biggest fear during Covid (at the height of Covid, April-July 2020) was that the US government would take UAL, AA, and DAL and take their best parts, combine them into one National carrier, and let the unions sort out a combined list. And let the remaining carriers wither on the vine, or succeed on their own.
Thankfully that didn't happen.

Boeing is producing 5 787 per month now with increases ot this rate coming in 2025. Airbus is producing 6 350 per month now with an increase to 9 per month by 2025. With their present backlog and numerous orders recently how long will it take us to get a workable fleet from either mfg

Dunno, but they start DTW-Istanbul in two days. Must think DTW has some people who want to fly international.

They can shuffle as needed. Or, ignore the PWA scope clauses as they have in the past. The point is that if Delta wants them to fly Delta pax, it’ll happen. Several years ago a Delta manger in Europe let that cat out of the bag and he was quickly silenced. Orders from D were said to earmarked for VA. I am not concerned with orders only jobs and the PWA. Delta will probably wait until some orders come under financial distress and scoop them up cheap.

Seriously, 22 Asian destinations at one point now down to 2 and a half (PVG). Where would we even fly new wide bodies? (Asking for a CEO friend of mine)

The flights are full to Europe. It only became a fuel stop issue for a very short period when it was really hot and the AD came out. Once that’s resolved I don’t see there being an issue. I don’t even think it had fuel stops this summer or some PO’s that would drive that assumption. The LHR departure also is a non factor too because it’s a late departure - even on those fuel stop days it didn’t have a problem.

Thats a big assumption considering that we need these aircraft in the not too distant future, but ok. Also, wasn't the reason given for canceling the NWA 787 order that Boeing couldn't deliver them to us when we needed them? Im not trying to pick a fight with you; Im asking these questions out of interest because I don't know. Orders are popping up everyday at the Dubai air show. I make room for the possibility that perhaps we already have negotiated a MOU with delivery slots but if we are trying to wait until another airline's misfortune in order to grab these jets for pennies as a strategy when we need new frames then I think that could bite us. But I'll defer to those who know better and wait and see what happens.
-Gulf Air 767
-AA/TWA 757
-SWA/AirTran 717
-Lion Air 737
-LATAM 350
If you expand the category to include manufacturer misforture:
-Bombardier CS100
-United 737 MAX

Thats multiple aicraft types acquired over decades. What Im referring to is one specific type that is mostly brand new and that we are looking to acquire now. The company has stated they are in negotiations with Airbus, not that they are looking for A350s by any means necessary. But this is Delta Air Lines afterall so your point is duly noted.
