Also, if OE scheduling calls you and “offers” you OE at a different base, understand that means you are on your own to get there (company business, jump seat, etc). They won’t deadhead you there. Heard of some people being burned by that “offer” thinking it meant they’d be positive space deadheaded there. You can decline such an offer if you so choose.

Gotchya, I appreciate your response. I just wanted to make sure I know my obligations prior to going into it and whether or not to commute over to DTW on my NOE days or if I can just be home and wait for something to pop up on my schedule. Is there some sort of rest requirement during this time? I've heard rumors of 30 hours prior call out but was not certain.

Just saying, some dude on skyhub who was not a new hire got burned by this recently. When you “request” out of base OE, they give you a flight number 0000 at the start of the rotation and they make you enter verbiage that says you understand you’re responsible for getting yourself in position. So it may be a scheduler misunderstood asking someone to do out of base versus requesting out of base. I’d confirm on the phone if they called me.

The flight number 0000 is normal if you REQUEST out of base OE. But this dude was offered out of base OE by the scheduler, accepted, and still got the same treatment.

It was on skyhub. OE skeds cold called the guy and asked if he would do skeds a solid and do his OE at a different base. He said sure. They scheduled him for it and left him out to dry, no deadhead. The "deadhead" leg was flight number 0000 which means figure it out yourself, no pay, no credit, no hotels. Obviously it's wrong but it happened. At least this guy isn't brand new and has the means and know to fight to fix it and get compensated appropriately. A new hire won't know better if the same thing happens to them.
