As long as 1 minute of that 30 hour break falls within the previous 168, you can commence the FDP. It doesn’t have to be the entire 30 hours. Otherwise, the reg would be written that way. I have been forced into more than one back to back trip because of this.

The question was asked in regards to a rsv pilot. Except for rare occurrences, we have a break in our rest at 1201am the first day of rsv. So unless you have a 30hr rest before day 7, you are legal for nothing but a deadhead. Line holders could definitely work a day 7 days in a row (late report day 1 early report day 7).

Of course you can be on long call reserve. I’ve been on reserve for 18 days straight. No problem. Long call reserve is not an FDP, so the reg does not apply.
Example: day 10 of long call you receive an assignment to report in 15 hours to deadhead to a 32 hour layover. You are now rested and can operate a flight after the layover is complete.
