Other helpful stuff for the wife:
You start receiving training pay day 1 of indoc. It’s like $5200/month gross. Net is about $2k every 2 weeks after taxes, medical, etc. You don’t switch to first year pay until you finish OE or 30 days after sim checkride (44X) if your OE is backed up. Plan for 4-5 months on training pay. 9 weeks from indoc to sims is common right now. Your first paycheck after switching off training pay is probably close to $0 as well because reasons. Once you get access to deltanet, search New Hire Expanded Guide. 40 pages of gouge.
You, wife, kids, and your parents (and step parents if applicable) are eligible for non-rev travel benefits day 1.
Bunch of online training you need to do during indoc. Start it as soon as possible because it’s a lot and you don’t wanna be doing it while you’re home for the weekend.
Last day of indoc includes a dinner event wings ceremony and you get a +1.
Bid the 220. My friends are on it. Their trips/schedules are way better. On deltanet, look for Rotation Construction Dashboard. Has some summary statistics on different fleets. Also check the bids packs on the scheduling tab.
Check out widgetseniority.com It’s free for a certain time period for new hires then a nominal charge after that. Answers a lot of questions about juniority of different equipment and bases before you have to do your initial bid.

Don't know about 220 trips, but NYC 737 you can have everything from 1 day turns worth 8 hrs (very efficient) to two day trips with 24hrs layovers in Aruba, to 5 day trips that end in redeye.....little bit of everything.

The trips are different. All fleets have pretty bad trips across the board, but how they are bad differs. The 717 does not have long legs. The highest scheduled flight time I’ve seen (not accounting for wx avoidance routes) is ~ 2:40. Most legs are in the :30 - 1:30 range flight time range, so this fleet has the highest legs per day average in the airline. They can be avoided with some seniority but there are a fair number of trips with a day with 5 legs. Lots of 3-4-4-3, 3-4-2-3, etc type trips. Also limited to the east coast and Midwest since it currently only operates flights out of ATL DTW and MSP. You will have some very early starts or late finished but it is the only fleet with zero red eye flying. Yes it pays less but with the better seniority you can end up making the same or more as other fleets by leveraging that seniority into GS opportunities.

I dunno, mine are OK for the most part. Depends on what ones definition is of horrible I guess. Occasional 5-leg day and the overnights are nothing special and all just blend into one another after a while. Zero red-eyes, huge plus for me.

I think it is because of lower pay. more legs per day, and the 717 was scheduled for retirement. Also, it is just a glorified regional jet and some pilots don't want to say, I fly the 717...
