Almost as bad as the current crop of folks posting and asking for guidance or permission on which black pants they are "allowed" to wear to work and how they are supposed to cope with this.......big boy rules people.

Black denim works. Washes and fades very fashionably. Look great with white NB sneakers.

Huh? Have we had this discussion before?

I have no reason to “defend” ATL based pilots. Just giving you my anecdotal observation. I simply haven’t seen a single pilot from any base intentionally holding off on starting the APU/Packs bc “they’ll turn them on when there’re ready”.

Hands down constantly over many many years the ATL group writ large have been the group at the controls while people melt in the back.
Could it be *gasp* that’s it’s hotter in Atlanta than any of the other bases and thus a perception you’ve formulated?

You seem to have an axe to grind, but whatever man, I’ll still have beer with you on the layover.

I just want people to stop automatically turning the temp controls full cold as soon as they get into the NEO. Then we just gotta turn it back up when everybody is freezing, front and back.

Yeah, the 319s, 320s, and to a lesser extent, the CEOs, suck and mostly need to stay at full cold, the NEOs don't. Put it around 10-11 o'clock and it'll be just fine all day long.

I agree with this statement. Putting the temp controls at full cold causes more problem than it solves, and proves that you don't understand how a thermostat works.

Leaving them in the 10-11 o'clock position in all the planes works pretty well year-round, and avoids the 'all the gaspers closed' temp surges and subsequent *hot plane on the ground after everyone leaves* issues.

Asking the FAs to do the 'open all overhead vents' PA (or doing it yourself) helps a lot too.

My technique when I get to the plane is start the APU, do the walk around immediately and punch the OFF button on the PCA panel when I'm done. Get back to the cockpit, bleed and packs ON. Works good.

I used to do that until I saw it inflated but rolled up on the reel. 🤦‍♂️

The slowest rampers out of all of our hubs take the time to write pilots up? That’s funny.

I'm curious where it says I can't. Otherwise, "noted"

It’s a wonky procedure for sure. I don’t remember this being a “limitation” when I did my first lap on the 320 back around 2010. Anyone know if this is an Airbus thing or just a Delta tech-cedure?

My simple litmus test is, am I or the pax getting hot? Yes? Turn it on even if I can’t get a 100% verification on the hose.

At our earliest opportunity I will then confirm but sometimes that’s not easily feasible if the jetway is backed up and ops isn’t answering the radio. If it were pushing air properly we probably wouldn’t be having a temp issue anyways, so it’s unlikely we have dueling air sources.

I’m not saying ignore the book but use common sense, make a decision and then move on with your day. Don’t sit there and let 200 people sweat.

I do try to give it 3 minutes on a cold APU to avoid the dirty socks thing, but that’s a different topic.
