Oh but it does automatically create a non rev listing. Just requires you to either "de-list" from the jumpseat then rebook and re-check to grab one of those 30 open seats in the back or....get back in that line at the gate and have the gate agent do it. #DeltaITwinning! 🤣

Just another annoying Delta thing. KNOWING your system is superior without actually knowing what other airlines do.

Other airline systems help the employees, every time Delta gets a new app it makes more work for us. Mission +, Weather, Flight Family, MyCabin, FDPro, a crap ton of books with links. Delta app that doesn’t let you list as nonrev, or use any of our perks, gotta go to Deltanet.

ALPA has been trying to negotiate JS to cabin seat flow back for decades.

It shouldn’t require any negotiating capital on our part. It’s not in AA’s contract, but the nonrev/jumpseat system that they have makes everyone’s lives easier - pilots, FAs, and gate agents alike.

At one time, Delta didn't allow their own pilots in the JS, so none of this should be surprising. I'll bet that were even pilots who were against it when they allowed JS access.

There absolutely we're many ATL based pilots who didn't want the JS!

Why?

Because all the higher paying jets were in ATL, especially the L15, and there were lots of very senior pilots (from the North East merger) based in MIA and BOS. The ATL guys didn't want to make it easier for the BOS/MIA guys to commute into ATL for their final 3 years to boost their FAE.

I spent a few years commuting from MIA to BOS and BOS to CVG before we had the jumpseat, and it sucked no doubt! We only got it in 1996 when Mo'Ron closed all the smaller bases, and we got it because it would save Delta millions of dollars in paid moves if the pilots could commute instead of move to ATL.

i wasnt here, so in the interest of full knowledge, was anything traded for jumpseat access?

I wasn't either. See timbos post above. Color me shocked that it was ATL guys against it. 🤣

There was a lot going on at that time. The company was demanding a 5% pay cut. We essentially agreed but wanted a industry standard jumpseat. I personally heard our CEO state he would shut the airline down before he gave us the jumpseat. Finally getting the jumpseat was rolled into either a LOA or the contract. I can't remember now but there were concessions. Personally I doubt we gave anything up for the JS but some claimed we did. There were significant concessions in that time frame but they were coming with or without the JS.
