I don’t mind the changes personally, but that seems like a “reduction”
Delta a long time ago charged for each leg you non revenue traveled on if under 10 years. At some point they unilaterally increased the charge from like 7 to 15 dollars a leg. DALPA filed a grievance and won. The company had to cut checks looking back over a year to every pilot. The company quickly did the same for all employees. There were some flight attendants very happy with DALPA!
The problem in this case is their are lots of improvements. If we file a grievance the company will certainly withhold the improvements.

Default Vacation question

As usual, I can't read my own contract. Or find the correct part

PVPP--the two days free of duty prior to primary vacation. I know the were optional and I toggled yes, but what did I say yes to? I recall an ALPA info release on subject but can't find it. I know those days were 'safe' from flying during the bid. But what about now, can I pick up over those days?

Help? References?

When you bid your primary vacation in icrew you selected a box to have the 2 days off prior guantateed off. This cannot be undone and you cannot fly over those days.

A couple things to consider. 1 at AA there are some that sit there and "quickdraw" but theyre the minority. 2 The people who need the jumpseat the most aren't the senior guys going on vacation, its the guy who is getting beat up on reserve and just trying to see his wife. 3 With TOC you get a better picture of whether youre getting on or not. So if youre not getting on, you can at least see ahead of time and make alternate plans rather than get to the gate and someone snipes it last minute and now you've missed the 2 other options that you could have made. Theres no right or wrong way, but food for thought.

Ah. I see. We usually nonrev internationally and check bags so this isn't an option.

1. Even one 2024 hire out clicking a senior employee is one too many.

2. Not sure how the Jumpseat factors here, but that’s why we have the to/from/personal listing windows. Plan ahead if needed. Commuting to reserve and don’t see your wife enough? Unless you’ve been here less than 6 months that was probably self inflicted. Strategerize better next AE and/or bid period.

3. I would be open to some version of S2 cutoff window to avoid last minute (frequently unnecessary) escalations. Want to have S2 priority? Get it in by x hours before checkin then no more bets. That seems fair. Otherwise seniority should reign.

Default “Friends” selected for trip trades?

What benefit does having a "friend" added to the list do for you in the swap board? I can't seem to find anything about in the sched ref handbook.

thx for help

Swap with Friends allows someone else to give you a trip or take a trip from your schedule directly. No pickup limit so in that regard it’s similar to the swap board.

Be careful who you add because they can alter your schedule without your input (would be poor etiquette but still). I guess technically that could be a benefit as there is less friction to pass a trip between two pilots. It’s functionally the same as posting a trip on the SB and then having the other pilot call/text you vs a “just put through” posting, allowing you to decide who gets the trip.

It’s just another way of facilitating the same thing.

It allows pilots doing the trading to be in control of the trade without both needing to take action or a PCS run. Helps efficiently "cash in" PBs.
