The problem in this case is their are lots of improvements. If we file a grievance the company will certainly withhold the improvements.

Vacation question
As usual, I can't read my own contract. Or find the correct part
PVPP--the two days free of duty prior to primary vacation. I know the were optional and I toggled yes, but what did I say yes to? I recall an ALPA info release on subject but can't find it. I know those days were 'safe' from flying during the bid. But what about now, can I pick up over those days?
Help? References?

A couple things to consider. 1 at AA there are some that sit there and "quickdraw" but theyre the minority. 2 The people who need the jumpseat the most aren't the senior guys going on vacation, its the guy who is getting beat up on reserve and just trying to see his wife. 3 With TOC you get a better picture of whether youre getting on or not. So if youre not getting on, you can at least see ahead of time and make alternate plans rather than get to the gate and someone snipes it last minute and now you've missed the 2 other options that you could have made. Theres no right or wrong way, but food for thought.

2. Not sure how the Jumpseat factors here, but that’s why we have the to/from/personal listing windows. Plan ahead if needed. Commuting to reserve and don’t see your wife enough? Unless you’ve been here less than 6 months that was probably self inflicted. Strategerize better next AE and/or bid period.
3. I would be open to some version of S2 cutoff window to avoid last minute (frequently unnecessary) escalations. Want to have S2 priority? Get it in by x hours before checkin then no more bets. That seems fair. Otherwise seniority should reign.

Be careful who you add because they can alter your schedule without your input (would be poor etiquette but still). I guess technically that could be a benefit as there is less friction to pass a trip between two pilots. It’s functionally the same as posting a trip on the SB and then having the other pilot call/text you vs a “just put through” posting, allowing you to decide who gets the trip.
It’s just another way of facilitating the same thing.

1. Even one 2024 hire out clicking a senior employee is one too many.
