It worked for recovery and I did not need a day but the result was bidding senior domestic reserve because what is the point of going international to sequester in a hotel room. Give the 7ER a try and you aren’t stuck doing international if you don’t cope well. International travel is awesome international work is not IMHO.
Problem with the ER is how senior the international goes, especially on the A side. And will continue to go more senior as they repurpose/retire the 763s as we get more 339s. Giving the ER a try for international only works if you accept being in NYC, or pretty dang senior.

Individual adaptation varies, so it's best to try it for yourself.

While flying 7ER may have been good advice 10 years ago, this is a bad idea today. There isn't enough international flying remaining on the 7ER for a reasonable sample,. especially if you are junior. Asia is almost non-existent. A more realistic approach based on current flying is bid the 350 or 330 depending on location to get a sample of East/West. If you don't adjust well, bid out. It's a training freeze, not a career commitment. There are always some domestic scraps in the bid packs and open time that you can retreat to if you need a circadian reset. WB reserve is also a great option for time zone relief.

if you’re over 6 foot the Delta One crew rest sucks on the ER. or if you’re just bigger in general. 330 with a proper crew bunk would be much more comfortable to sleep, and much quieter.

4 man is always going to be longer rest breaks where you can actually get some deep sleep.

This is a fact. And if you are first or last break, getting hit with carts during service too.

I miss the 76Ts with the pilot condo in the cargo hold.

Use caution here too. Plenty of WB reserves getting used way more often than in the days of old. And depending on how the company mans the 330 bases during the stand-up of Boston, it could get worse before it gets better.

Wait, reserves might have to go work for straight pay more than once every 3 months?

Next you're going to tell me that NB upgrades in 6 months is going away.

Madness.

Sorry, not sorry.

It's a job, not an adventure.

Feel better after pilotsplaining that to us?

I was suggesting that WB reserve might not offer the time zone relief it once did; folks can consider or ignore that as they see fit.

Ok boomer. Reserves do the same dang job you do, and they do it with professionalism, pride, and occasional reserve beards.
