Yes a swap can still trigger, it happens all the time. It appears to be left to scheduler discretion when they start manual coverage. If they don't start manual coverage, and you happen to hit a PCS, a SWP will process but not a PW. What you're doing is still a good technique, but there are just just times that you could lose out to a junior pilot with a SWP, which is my only heartburn with this setup.

Or maybe because there are more reserves?? Category dependent obviously, but I’ve seen lots of blue days this year (summer not counting).

Yeah that's the irony of them doing this test or whatever they want to call it and then putting some sort of validity on it. They are doing it at a time of year when flying is already historically down and therefore greenslips are too.

I wish that were the case, I'd go back to bidding reserve again. We're just not seeing this better staffing people keep talking about. Well, there may be more reserves daily due to not being able to drop for lack of blue days and/or PB days.

Sorry about your staffing. SCs not withstanding (I commute) id live on reserve right now.

Ya the poster above was just asking about why he's seeing fewer broken up trips. As someone who lives for day turns, I'm seeing the same and I was just providing the reason I see. But ya, I'll go back to living on reserve (even with increased SC), if we can get enough staffing back to drop days. Oddly, we recently had a month where there was tons of coverage on the weekend, so we ended up with blue weekend days, while the week days were all black. Cats and dogs living together. Here's hoping we can do a better job of getting contractual language to force better staffing in our favor.

Yup, the only 1 and 2 days are around Thanksgiving...gee thanks! Good thing we didn't get included on the 1 and 2 day trip protections. I know, I know, it would make our bid packet "worse." 🙄
