if this happens with a paying passenger being upgraded the gate agent comes on the planes and upgrades them. Non-revs are supposed to be treated like paying pax.. so gate agents aren’t doing their jobs properly if they ignore this

They are not going to take the time to reshuffle nonrevs. Especially 10 minutes to push on a domestic leg.

Yes it all depends on timing. I have been given a first class seat last minute when there was no time to upgrade a paying pax for instance. But I agree there have appeared to be shenanigans with FOGA (Friends Of Gate Agents).

It’s been a minute since I’ve been rerouted so just double checking. On my time card it has a line of RRPY with the correct amount of hours, but down below where it says “reroute pay” it still shows zero. Is that normal?

Yes. The RRPY will show up when you are removed from your original rotation, while the part below has to do with getting back more than 4 hours after scheduled arrival if domestic and 25 hours if international.

Recommend you take a look at Negotiator Notepad 24-03 "Reroute Rules and Pay Treatments" as it breaks down the difference between 23.L.4 and L8/9, how they show up on the timecard, and several examples of reroutes that show the math to calculate the pay.

I looked in the notepad and it talks about flight number change. In our case they canceled the original flight due to mx and ran a new flight number the following day on the same city pair.

Is this a reroute?

Yes a new flight number is always a reroute.

except in international ops where they have to use a new flight number to run the same city pair twice that day.

think “DAL26 EDI-JFK” becoming “DAL9974 EDI-JFK” + 1 day

that’s delayed operations.
