2nd sick call since the new contract and both have failed. As I understand it this is a pretty blatant contract violation. Anyone have any updates on when it’ll be fixed or consequences for the company for non-compliance?

I’m definitely getting a “the PWA is more like guidelines than actual rules” vibe
have not heard a word from ALPA on this issue. Add on to what you describe that the company is just blatantly not allowing reserves to use this feature.

While on the one hand I really hope ALPA has grieved this, on the other I don’t trust DH and our current MEC to not throw us under the bus in another management appeasing settlement.

I'm shocked about the crickets on this. It's a very clear violation. More importantly, C44 chest pounded in a comm or town hall during negotiations that the implementation schedule was aggressive and they would be waiting with a list of wants when the company couldn't meet the deadlines. As Judge Smails once said, "well, we're waiting!"

it probably wasn’t in the newspaper they were too busy reading to do their actual job.

Always remember, it’s not a contract violation until the arbitrator says so.

With an MEC that is terrified of the big bad arbitrator, management knows that nothing is ever a violation.

Management is emboldened for a reason. Under this MEC, they have everything to gain and nothing to lose by pushing beyond the limits of the contract.

I much prefer to call in sick directly to CS. The long sigh and frustration in thier voice is my little win. And no, there isn't a functional solution yet. I want 2 ponies now! I think this is when we penalize the company for sick leave abuse, what's a proper penalty?

I've been able to successfully use it on reserve. It definitely hasn't worked every time, but it has worked for me the last 2 times I have used it.

Requiring them to provide a certified IT professional’s note (from a specific, narrow list of certification types) describing a valid and specific technical reason for each MiCrew sick/well call failure.

(And a few million dollars in penalties.)

With the batch size mega-giveaway followed by the self-congratulatory ALPA non-pay raise pay increase, the above statement cannot be overstated.
