I make it clear to crew tracking that I won’t waive the 1 hour prior report, and that a delay should be posted reflecting the new departure time. That stops the agent from boarding too early, and potentially allows for reaccommodating passengers whose connections may be at risk.

When/if pushback comes, choose your words carefully. even if no consensus exists when head meets pillow, keep the timeline based on your convictions, even if it means facing a planeload of eager pax, butts in seat. Not only is an hour the "norm," but it's a good baseline for a thorough and fastidious preflight

I've never had pushback on my rest and ready time. Don't really care what times they put on anything last that. We'll push when ready.

I've always checked iCrew/MyCrew and seen the updated departure time before I've gone to sleep. If it hasn't been updated, a crowded airplane it is. We can only do so much.

A also send a message to everyone I can on Flight Family. "The pilots will be reporting at x o'clock. We'll be pushing at x+1 o'clock."

When you say "my crew" are you refering to FAs and an FO(s)? I'm often on a differnt rotation than all the crew as a RES so I advise them to make thier own calls and let scheduling figure it out. I don't think it's the CA responsibility to schedule. That said if they agree and we are all on the same page I'll text with crew assist app to let them know.

Agreed. It’s an individual decision and responsibility.

When I was an FO I had more than one captain assume that I was good with the same amount of rest as them. One wasn’t pleased when I immediately called crew tracking back and told them that I’d need more rest than the captain had requested.

If an FO and I are on the same rotation, I always ask what his/her minimum acceptable rest is before calling tracking. If they want more rest than me, then that’s the amount I’m telling CT we need.

When I say my crew, I mean anyone flying out on the same flight as me in the morning. We’re in this together. If the FO flying with me needs more time than 10 hours behind the door, I will make it happen.

You and I are on the same page. I skip crew tracking now and go straight to duty pilot. Crew tracking will just transfer you there anyway if you ask for any more than legally required. I am speaking from recent experience on two different events.

personal technique…I tell FO to ignore all phone calls until we agree on a pickup time. For me, if no meals are needed, my minimum is pickup 10 hours after I’m handed a room key. With key in hand I call tracking and tell them what time they can pick us up. What they do with that info after that, I don’t care. I go to bed and show up at the time I said. If everything is AFU, not my problem. They break my rest with phone calls, fatigued. Don’t get pushed around. Don’t be argumentative. Just tell them the deal, have a good nights, thanks for your help, hang up.

Does anyone know of a way to drop a 3 day ivd that straddles 2 bid periods without burning a second ivd use? If i try in july it says “out of bid period” for aug 1&2. If i do it for august it says the same for july 31st. Tyia
