"Requested add rotation not in open time". So I went and looked, it was awarded to a pilot 600 seniority numbers below me and then I was denied for the reason given. Upon reaching out to CS per crew assist they said I was initially denied for "DBMS denied the swap to prevent an imbalance in reserve levels for the days requested. There may not have been enough 2 day reserve coverage to swap into two one day rotations at the time of request."
First of all, is there PWA language to support this? And secondly, if there is, how was it then awarded to a junior pilot? (Per CS he was also swapping a 2 day for the same two 1 days that I'd requested)

Also perplexed at the approval of the same swap to a junior pilot. If you're 100% sure you entered everything in PCS correctly I'd keep pushing it with ALPA and CS.

That doesn't seem legal to me.. I've never seen anything that requires they have adequate reserves with specific days available to approve a swap.

According to my initial phone call with CS, it was a swap with the pot, just like my request. (A 2 day for two 1 days over the same 2 day period). It also says PS in the reason column.

The OP said he was swapping to pick up two trips at once? Were the adds entered vertically or horizontally?

For all of the issues scheduling/Delta IT has, the one thing I’ve found to be nearly completely locked in is the PCS process. There is zero possibility of scheduling ever going in and manually interfering with the run. One of two things happened in this situation. Either there is a logical reason when PCS got to his request that it was denied, or there was a pilot error in entering the request.

Is it automated? If so, "no shenanigans", but you may have to ensure the computer coding is correct. (which one shouldn't have to do, but computers are, like humans, fallable because, since humans program them they are subject to errors) "Shennainags" implies "nefarious" conduct by somebody. Intentionality to screw you induividually. I'm not sure that is going on here.
I have seen coding problems where they let me swap an 8 day trip for a 2 day, that swap put me into a FAR violation by over 30 hours. The scheduler insisted the computer did it, therefore, it must be legal. He didn't want to even take a cursory look as to what I was talking about(maybe he was my spouse?) Nonetheless, even the senior scheduler wouldn't listen until I told them....."Whaterver, I am just notifying you that I will not be there due to a fAR violation, I suggest you have an alternate plan to cover the trip when I No-Show". There was nothing nefarious about it. They just trusted the computer run.
10 minutes later they called me back and admitted they had an update the previous evening and thanked me for my input as it had bothced up other pilots swaps also.
In summary, it might be effed up but there might be nothing "nefarious" about it.
Nobody is as invested as to your pay as you should be.
Keep pushing on them if you think you're right...people are too trusting of "The computer". Common sense is becomming less "common"

I don’t think it’s nefarious as it is an automated system. However, they’ve given me an assumed reason for why it was denied (as they don’t seem to actually know as it’s automated) and I can’t find any language in the PWA that would support the “assumed” reason as being a valid reason for being denied the swap.

The explanation offered to me was that some condition must’ve existed that caused me to be denied, but that apparently that condition no longer existed by the time it got to the junior pilot.
