Ok- Thanks. I have seen many references to drops throughout section 23 in numerous places and they all seem to indicate that you can drop as late as the 0700 PCS run for the very next day.
Does anyone have any personal experience with such short notice drops being successful?
23 E 3 a 4 states that PCS runs are processed next day for all PCS awards other than rotation coverage (e.g. military leave, APD, PD, X-day move, swap with the pot, additional day off) (0700E run only).
What exactly does this sentence mean?
Scoop - Absent that day in Pilot PWA translation to English class.

To clarify.
You MAY submit PD, APD, or IVD requests as late as 0700 the day prior to a trip or reserve on-call day. (PWA 23.I). In fact I myself once dropped a trip via this exact process, using an IVD.
While you CAN submit a PD/APD/IVD requests as just described, that is a different discussion entirely than the QPD (Qualified Personal Drop) issue. The only thing to keep in mind for the super-close in requests is that your trip will either be dropped, or not, based on the reserve numbers and which request you are using. There will be no Q trip option by that point (though another pilot COULD still pick up your trip via the Swapboard.)
If anyone is still confused after reading this let me know.

It does get confusing.
You CAN use your IVD as late as the 0700 run the day prior to drop a trip or reserve day.
You CANNOT use a PD or even an APD to do so that late in the game. By definition, any denied PD or APD becomes a Q trip in open time. However that Q designation disappears 48 hours prior to report (not associated with any particular PCS run). That means that PD/APD requests aren't available for use that close in.

OK thanks. It seems like an IVD will work as late as 0700 for the next day. I would assume others would work at 0700 for two days out.
Just trying to get ready for the summer schedule.

The above posts seem confusing, so I'm going to clarify:
The last chance for a Regular pilot to PD, APD, or IVD a rotation is the 0700 PCS run 1 day prior (23.I.2, 3, and 4)
The last chance for a reserve pilot to PD, APD, or IVD a reserve day is the 0700 PCS run 1 day prior OR until they have been given a reserve assignment (SC or rotation). Once a reserve has been given an assignment there is no way to drop/swap even if it is 2 days out (or even father out when dealing with FMRS SC).

Scenario: FRMS SC assigned on day 1 of a 4 day block.
Option 1 - Move X day from day 5 to day 1
Option 2 - Move X day from day 0 to day 4 so FRMS SC is now on day 2 of 4.
*FRMS SC can be assigned on your last RES day for your upcoming RES block. It is common practice in FRMS categories.

In PCS, we move off days, not RES days. You can move an off day over the SC day provided it complies with the rules for moving off days. (MSL, 4-99-4, coverage, etc )
*For those enrolled in the Master of Reserve degree program, PB is an off day and can be moved within the same criteria as X day moves. PR days not so much...
