Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2

Whats the standard acceptable report for a GS? Is it 2 hours “ish” like shortcall?
basically if a GS reports in an hour, is it ok to grab it if youre 2 hours out and theres going to be a delay? Or is it that they only want people who can make the report time acknowledge

Don't screw over our passengers. There's plenty of pilots in base who are chomping at the bit to do this. The whole airline ain't about you.
(This isn't contract advice. 2 hours is reasonable, IMHO. OTOH, big picture. One pilot, at least 3 FA's, and 150+ passengers are waiting on you.)

Nevermind EWR.
Or that I sit short call at home in a "hour or so to EWR, but 2 to JFK may be pushing it" location.

NGL, I unpinned that gernade and threw it.
NYC and LAX are special cases. Maybe ATL depending on time of day.
But for premium pay, the airline usually needs you right this very instant.
(Wouldn't judge anyone who needed 2 hours though. Your milage may vary. That's fine).

The last short notice GS I did (already past report time when I got it) was awarded as I was stepping into my car at the grocery store in my neighborhood. I live 20 min away from the airport on a good day, 30 if there's a bit of traffic. By the time I got home, put the groceries away, shaved, put on a uniform, throw a couple more things into my already half packed bag, drove to the airport with traffic, got randomed at KCM, and made it over to the gate it was just under 1h30'. Luckily my SO was home and willing to drop me off since going to Camp Creek can often add 20 minutes to the ordeal and good luck finding short term parking in ATL when you're in a rush, even if they approve it. I'm about as close as it gets and it still took that long. I think 2h or "short call call-out" time is more than reasonable in any big city and living a normal life on your days off. Less than that you'd literally need to be sitting at home wearing a uniform ready to jump into action as soon as the phone rings. Luckily they've always been happy with my ETA when they asked. I usually tell them "1h30 but I can normally beat it if things go smoothly", but good to know I'm not obliged to answer in the future.

Since PWA says GS gets same time as SC, where are you pulling the 1hour because it appears to be your arse. If this is your personal tech-cedure so be it but don’t respond that it’s gospel when some asks a legit question.
And if they need someone there fight now, they can use VAS pilots.

Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.
I’ll put in every effort to fly out the door, walk briskly, and genuinely hurry. But my experience has been when showing up last second, almost every single passenger (and FA) is grateful for my effort to bail them out and get them there.
