Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2

Quite happy down low. My routes are nearly direct anyway, so I'm certainly never worried about that. DTW-RDU at FL220 the other day for turb. A fair amount of legs stay in the teens lol. I never understood the obsession with climbing right up to the limit, or constantly stepping up, even when on the 330. You won't find me within 1k of max alt. Besides, once you hit 350, your exposure to radiation increases exponentially. I do enough harm to my body, no need to do any more. I flew with a LCA on the 757 that had already had a bunch of cancer cut out of their skin. They used the +/- 4k (the minus of course) to the max extent.

A typical person receives 2-3 mSv/year.
Aircrew receive more.
A polar route pilot (allegedly) receives 6 mSv/year. Middle latitudes and lower altitudes, less.
100 mSv/year is the lowest amount to shown to cause cancer risk increase.
A CT scan is 15 mSv.

Keep in mind that the rules auditor ONLY checks for FAR violations. It does not take into account, for example, the white slip pickup limit. WS pickup limit is ALV+15. So if the ALV is 75, the WS pickup limit would be 90. If in this example if you were at 83 hours and saw an easy two day trip in open time, you would not be able to WS it, since it would exceed the pickup limit. However the odds are good that "no rules violations found" would be the message from the rules auditor.

But it’s found (naturally) under “swap with the pot” which is something reserves cannot even do. Gotta love ICrew.

All good info thanks. I just have to laugh at where it’s found though. I used it on reserve to check why a GS went to someone junior and it turned out there was just barely a 30 in 168 violation.

hmm….
”An (S) on a rotation represents a shadow award as discussed in the Shadow Bidding section. The shadow award is listed for pay purposes only and is not actually on the pilot’s schedule. Any pairing awarded to a pilot in his shadow period will remain available for award to a junior pilot.”
