So you went 6 monhts with no pay at all? No LTD pay, no active pay?
Having been through this 2x, my understanding is that this step is simply intended to ensure all the Class I T's are crossed and I's are dotted, nothing more. My first time, once I finally had the Special Issuance from the FAA, it took about a day for Dr. F to send the RTW. The second time required a new AME physical exam, and the day I went to him for that, my RTW was sent to the company (though his staff kinda screwed me out of at least several months of active pay, which is a separate issue).
There has to be more to this story (perhaps something of which you were not aware?), because Dr. F is about as pilot-friendly an AME as you will ever find, but he's not a rubber stamp. (And again, he has had some genuine staff issues who have not helped his cause).

He cost me six additional months on disability by denying my return to work after getting my first class medical. When the FAA stated my medical was fully valid he denied he ever disapproved my return to work. Thankfully I saved his emails. It's kind of weird to be denied returning to work and removed from disability because I held a first class medical at the same time.
so he was acting as the company’s doctor in your case?
I never understood how he could be a “pilot advocate” while at the same time, to some degree, being the company’s guy. A very strange yet totally “Delta” dynamic.
after reading Karlene Pettit’s legal filings, Faulkner appeared to have done a portion of flight ops’ dirty work to railroad her.

The last company update about Dr Van I saw had a comment that return to fly had returned to a 24 hour process.

I will never understand how he has a reputation as a “pilot advocate” if he was involved in weaponizing the medical process against a Delta pilot.

Well there are hundreds of examples of pilots who are back actively flying for Delta because of Dr. Faulkner. You can go off their opinions or the opinion of one retired Delta pilot

Your choice of AME is your choice. No one elses. Don't want to use Dr F, fine. Many do. It's totally up to the individual here.

what happened to KP isn’t just her opinion, it is a fact established by a court of law. If Dr. Faulkner was involved in that he is absolutely not a pilot advocate.

he is/was the company doctor. I dont use him but he has/had the ability to prevent my return to work even though he was not my AME.
