What is the current schedule/life for the SLIs these days. I’ve heard it’s a great deal and I’ve heard it’s a terrible deal. How does pay work? How many events per month/day? Do you bid for a schedule the month prior? Is it a big pay cut because there’s no GS? How do you get hired? I’ll be local for what it’s worth and I like the idea of being home for the kids.

Thanks Scoop
Recommend finding Scheduling Alert 21-06…lots of good info about the auto accent / acknowledge functions

might depend on the fleet. But I think most are understaffed….
with that said, the minimum number of events is 17, but lately guys are getting forced into 19-21 events.
its 5 hours pay per event. So 17 events equals 85 hours of pay at highest seat you can hold - but not CA. So if you can hold 350B in any base, you get 350B hourly rate.
you bid your schedule the month prior and only get to pick 6 X days. Your other 7 off days are randomly assigned. Seniority has nothing to do with it.
you put in your resume on Deltanet to apply, and there is an interview.

in regard to “pay cut” compared to being on the line, it depends. If you are the type of NB FO who normally works 15 days a month, and does not GS; then SLI is a huge raise. If you are the guy who hustles and does his 15 days of flying plus 4-7 days GS flying, then it’s a pay cut.

I enjoy it. But you have to enjoy teaching, and you have to stay plugged into the latest policies/procedures.

also, as mentioned above. You lose a little flexibility. You can’t bid 14 days off in a row and take an impromptu vacation - like a lineholder can.
what is nice, is vacation slide is VERY easy. Can basically slide your vaca to whatever you want

Correct that if you are an FO you will not get paid CA rate but if you can hold CA anywhere you get paid at the highest FO rate.

Well anyone hired before this past November can hold CA, so there’s that…

Where can I find a reference to being released from a trip for IOE. I have a 2:20pm report tomorrow. Do you usually have to report for the trip?

they will call and release you between 7 and 9pm tonight. By this point if it’s still showing OE on the trip I’ve only not been released once. That time the student failed 44x.
