I don't think that's correct. I'm fairly certain the verification only trips in the next month. So in your situation, if you were at 119.9 in March. You call out sick for a 21 hour trip on 3Apr, which puts you over 120 hours. You could call in sick for another trip later in the month and still not verify. The verification wouldn't come until the next month, only if you stay above 120 hours via the lookback.
That's what I was told, I could be wrong though.

Here’s the relevant contract ref: PWA14.F.3
“Subject to Section 14 F. 6., a pilot who has used more than 120 hours of sick leave in the 12 completed bid periods preceding the start of a sick occurrence, other than sick leave
that has been verified under Section 14 F. 4., will be required to verify such occurrence within 21 days of its start by providing to their Chief Pilot or Pilot Leaves a QHCP certificate or, at pilot’s option, a doctor’s certificate.”

I see what you’re saying. I was under the impression that it was the sick occurrence past 120 hours vs the bid period after 120 hours. I have never personally been in this situation under C2019.

In my experience:
Sick after RES trip assigned.
Sick immediatley before/after vacation. (in my case, I was badly hurt on vacation, broken collarbone, they knew about it, still GFBd)
REG Sick within GS window sometimes, maybe 50/50
REG Sick day of >50% of the time. Woke up once, already in NYC at crashpad. uncontrollable vomiting. Banged out sick.. 2 days later, GFB. Took an act of congress to get NR home approved. I rented a car and drove 7 hours home vs deal with their BS.
Perosnal favorite.. SICK while on a trip. In a hub. Beginning an 30 hour layover.

Why does the lookback even matter anymore if virtually ANY sick call can trigger a required note (notwithstanding the 50-hour GFB exemption)?

I called in sick when I was sick. Only asked once in 35 years for a GFB letter. Asked the assistant cp if he looked at my sick leave record. He said hang on, came back a minute later and said never mind.

I don’t think I had EVER heard of anyone receiving a GFB call until about 2-3 years ago. Today, it’s become very common, and is automatically triggered by a long list of factors that can be found in almost any sick call. You’ve been retired and/or haven’t called in sick during the height of it.

[QUOTE=Gunfighter;3783516] I realized she was just getting closer for an air sample. {/QUOTE]
Apparently the original comment caused quite a stir on a SM site unrelated to APC. It's not a site/group/thread I frequent, but I've heard plenty about it via PM. My normal annual PM volume had doubled in just 24 hours, so let me clear things up. This was NOT on an A330 and the gate agent was not dating the captian. If you resemble that remark, this isn't about you. Let me bold the important part of the entire post.
Observed from the opposite side of the (NOT A330) cockpit, the agent leaned in well inside of conversational distance while delivering the final paperwork. When I commented on the close encounter, the captain confirmed there was no relationship with the agent and that throughout the AMS airport, there is a long history of "close talking". The Dutch are not culturally close talkers, which is why this close encounter stood out to me. Draw your own conclusions about intent. End of story.
