Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2
#4641
We now know and have evidence that big D spies on APC. I haven't called anyone about this but the day I post about it, it's magically fixed. Just checked it, and now I have 6. I noticed it when the schedules and time cards first populated in icrew and crickets until my post.

The vast, vast majority have nothing to worry about in expressing an opinion, just be smart about what and how you post.

For those reading who are/have bidded over to an international fleet.
If you think the US took this stuff seriously, Europe is 10X more strict.
Do go have a pint/dram.
Do not push anything over there.
Hope he gets the help he needs, but those of you who haven't been over there, it is taken far more intensely seriously. Hotels will call airport to advise them if you were hitting the bar late the night before. Big brother is watching.

Yep. Last week in one of our busiest European hubs they were giving everyone a breathalyzer as you go through security. And I mean everyone, local crews as well as international crews. Have one or two cocktails with an early dinner and call it a night. Plan on a breathalyzer every time and save you "Big nights" for off days.
First time other than the random DAL test that I was tested - then again I am fairly new to International.

That was a fairly regular occurrence in AMS. This is why you stay away from the "just 1 more" types, and definitely don't hit the bar on the way home, or worse, the hotel bar at the end of the night. As CX said, them hotels have eyes.

The key is the situation. Is your van time 0700? Or is it noon? Is the “just one more” type making that suggestion at 1900, or is it 2300?
The vast majority of these incidents are from guys who clearly have issues (never once have I felt the need to drink half a bottle of anything on a layover, then bring the other half back with me).
Some of yall are a little bit too paranoid. I’m not advocating you treat a layover like a bachelor party, but you shouldn’t be afraid to enjoy your intl layover. It’s a perk of the job. Don’t think you have to walk on eggshells. Follow the rules and be smart.

Thank you!
Let’s not get carried away. Not sure that’s the reason you need to avoid people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of that.

Not paranoid and I agree with you on what you're saying. I've enjoyed my fair share of drinks on overnights. The just one more types I'm talking about are the ones that are saying when you've already had plenty and it's way too close to van time. It's nowhere near the norm, but they're out there.

Play it smart, enjoy yourself and don't over do it. Easy peezy.

Another summer EU tip is "don't drink in the dark". FCO is at DTW latitude, MXP matches MSP. CDG and AMS are up in Canadian territory and Scotland is practically Alaska. It's not like the south where stopping at sunset gives you enough time before wakeup.
