I just quickly looked at PBS last night, but is the filter not working just to view trips or is this also a problem with how filters work on preferences?

They better get this fixed soon or this is going to be a bidding train wreck.

I switched to Turbotax and haven't looked back. In the back of my mind I'm always worried something inside there is screwed up and I'll get burned by it, and I could do without the cutsey "You got this!" animations and "gamification" that has become so prevalent nowadays, but it works quite well for my needs.
I got burned bad by H&R Block when it came to our profit sharing taxes. He had no idea how we were taxed on it and I ended up owing more than 4000 extra in federal taxes around June. This tax guy blamed me for it, saying it was my fault.

Finally got a real accountant who does my taxes. Pay a few hundred bucks, drop everything in an email, and wash my hands.

They said the stuff with if not will work for PBS and that it's just not viewing correctly for trip sorting. They said that they're still testing the redeye fuction and, as of now, it doesn't appear that it will work. If you're looking to avoid redeyes, you may have to switch to another method to kick out those trips.

Profit sharing gets taxed as ordinary income. The problem is that the tax withholding by the Company is a flat percentage which may be insufficient for those in high marginal tax brackets. I don’t see how a tax preparer could fix that by the time tax season rolls around. You need to cross check your taxes paid throughout the year and adjust W4 withholding and/or make estimated tax payments to avoid a surprise. It isn’t particularly hard to do yourself, but paying a professional for tax strategy and management can make sense. I owe a significant amount for last year because of retro/signing bonus, but knew it was coming and knew I’d make safe harbor to avoid underpayment penalties. I’m happy to let that money work for me until April.

To clarify, the IRS sees PS check as a ‘bonus’ which are taxed (per IRS code) at a fixed percentage regardless of income.

With all the extra people they're putting on SC, more seem to be going to SC. It's too bad we don't get the extra hour whether you get used or not.

Are you seeing this in March? In the 330 SCs seem way down since we started bidding for them in PCS.

I haven't really noticed yet, but that would be a great change for them. I have noticed that they're handing out quite a few SC that start at 2359.

Tax is withheld at the bonus rate, but that income is “taxed” the same as all other wage income when calculating your federal return. If they withhold at 22% but your marginal rate is 37% you will owe Uncle Sam money in April without making any W4 adjustments or extra payments.

*withheld

Big difference. I don’t know why people continue to misunderstand the difference. Probably because they pay some genius to do their taxes for them and have no idea what they are actually paying.
