i don’t fly when i know for certain i shouldn’t be. But once you hit that certain threshold you start getting the calls from the CPO. If i called in sick every time i had a runny nose I’d be getting those calls every freaking month. I can’t stand having to answer to authority so i limit the amount of sick time i use. Better than having to talk to some corporate stooge and explain myself. My ability to hold my tongue is limited. I’d end up in a situation i don’t want to be in. So yeah, if i think im capable of doing my job safely, i go to work.

Travelling constantly, disturbed sleep schedules and sharing a work space with 17,000 other employees exposes one to a lot of viral threats, germs; bacteria, fungi and protozoa. Seems like every change of the season I get a co-worker with a lingering cough. Used to get sick pretty regularly and just being honest, was not as sharp as I could be on a better day.
My cargo dog of a dad & his buddies all swear by AHCC, a product from the mycelia of ****ake mushrooms. What I've experienced is that your body gains the ability to fight off common infections very quickly and efficiently.

If the goal is to "stay healthy" as much as possible, then a balanced multi-vitamin, AHCC and maybe "Lion's Mane" seem to help.

Had a couple of serious medical incidents and decided it was time to do more than try to eat well.

AFAIK, yes. Crazy what they will allow the FA's to do with hair, colors, peircings, facial hair, tattoo's, rings, heck even uniforms/North Face, which are verboten for pilots.

"If you want to know where there is a good jogging trail and a book store, ask the FedEx pilot. If you want to know where there is a bordello with a buffet and whiskey special open all night, ask the Flying Tigers guy."

I’m hoping that the massive demographic shift we have had among pilots in the last 5 years combined with the recent change in flight ops leadership might lead to some modernization of our appearance standards.

It's the pilots who are against change. Our group is much too conservative to welcome any of those changes. The uniform rollout for us was a disaster, but many are complaining that we have to change at all. "Why fix what ain't broke" "Uniform means everyone has to look the same" "The pilot uniform sets us apart and us iconic"

Now - among the servant leaders? Fit right in.
The best thing about long sleeves is that these outliers immediately identify themselves as such. And they usually have numerous reasons to be embarrassed about their coworkers…
