Yes. But very, very few people wear them, even in winter. And the majority who wear long sleeves only do so because tattoos must be covered. So it stands out/looks weird, and usually gets poked fun a little.

Delta has an odd relationship with long sleeves. You’re allowed to wear them. I do all the time. When I was a new hire I was written up for being out of uniform by an uninformed captain. During the new hire chief pilot meeting the chief was trying to persuade me to only wear short sleeves.. it’s just odd. Anyways, it looks nicer than short sleeve, clip on tie and goofy hat look. The last captain who didn’t like the long sleeves had his cell phone clipped to his belt. I chose not to take his fashion advice.

35 years at Delta I don't ever recall a pilot writing up another pilot. Professional standards certainly gets used but writing someone up is virtually non existent. Is there more to the story?

Wrong wording.. on the new hire evaluation that every captain fills out during your first few months? He wrote that long sleeves were not allowed. Of course he didn’t tell me, just wrote it. Class act.

Was this comment directed at me (former regional captain) or this guy’s (probably not a former regional captain) PA?

If it’s about his PA, you gotta bait that hook better. Maybe something like: “I saw that same announcement by him on an rj”

If it’s at me, what part wasn’t cringe worthy?

At least I don’t think it was you that made the PA since he was proudly wearing his hat.

Most delta pilots don’t wear long sleeves because they’re too cheap to buy two sets of shirts. Just another reason to be embarrassed by your coworkers amongst the rest of the industry.

I am sure it has been covered, but at one point long sleeves were only allowed if you wore the jacket. This meant you had to wear the jacket even in the summer.
