Hearing rumors that they're in the chopping block in a "few years." Given that they still haven't installed seatback entertainment and they keep letting DTW shrink, I'm hoping it's not sooner than later. Was hoping for the end of the decade rumor.

Aren't you guys getting new internet and new interiors though? Thought I heard that. That of course means they'll be gone the next year.

We’re still reactivating planes from the desert. Given the issues at Boeing and huge demand at Airbus and with both struggling to meet delivery targets there is nothing in the pipeline to replace the 717 lift capacity any time soon. They will keep them in the air for many more years.

The 717s will be around until they run out of parts for them which won't happen soon since they're scouring the globe for parked fleets and aggregating them in VCV. Keeping it until 2030 or later from what I've heard. They have no replacement for that airplane unless they keep some 319s, 320s, and 738s around and those are almost just as long in the tooth and not as sturdy. The 717s are still replacing RJs and even filling in for the the 220s that can't stay airworthy.

Keeping it until 2030 is what I had heard as well, but that seems to go up and down depending on the day lol. I think we're getting new internet, not sure on the interiors.

At the latest standards meetings it was just said that they're on the chopping block in a few years. I agree it seems that with the 220 engine issues, 737max delays, etcc, that we'll need the lift. Here's hoping that is true and they stop shrinking DTW.

Am I the only one on APC who isn’t a LCA?

Woah, don't put that hate on me Valar, I just have contacts. In fact, I was asked about LCA, but I'm woefully short of PIC time on the jet, nor am I really interested. Based on my 365 day lookback on block time, it's going to be a few more years until I hit that mark lol.
