Sorry, typo! 80k. The point being, a lot of revenue not being earned. Don’t forget the numbers also included the FA group, a very expensive me too clause!

How do they know? Is somebody monitoring backend DHs? I know I've done it after a trip to catch up with family in Honolulu. Hope that doesn't come back to bite me. Pre-Covid so probably not I'm thinking.

There are a lot of things you "can" do and no one will catch you if they aren't looking for it. That is the policy, however, so buyer beware

The call didn’t result in much, other than “don’t do that again”.
What we CAN do without breaking any policy is book PS to a Rome vacation immediately after training.

I flew with someone who got a call from the CPO for deviating and booking positive space to the city where their vacation home is located, rather than the city of their permanent residence.

We have what, maybe 9-10k commuters? Factoring in vacation, training, sick, reserve, etc.. also the times you CAN'T book because there must be seats avail.. I'd say 4 monthly round trips would be a good average. So 10k pilots x 8 = 80k seats. I'm sure PB wants us to stop here. But what percent of the 80k actually displaced revenue? My guess would be 10% or less. Perhaps a MCO-ATL commuter will have more than a DSM-MSP. In 1 year, I had about 90 PSC, and maybe ~5 where they had to buy off passengers and no standbys made it on. [If it happened today they still just PS me on the next flight]. I'd bet the real "cost" is a lot less than what they claim.
If they wanted to lower the impact on revenue, there are solutions. Could give an annual or monthly cap, to work only, only book 24hr prior and seats are greater than say 5 open, or even enchaned priority for standby, remove 2hr between flts, etc. But instead we got zero improvements to commuter policy. Kind of disappointing that not a single aspect of the commuter policy improved.
