unreal progression that you'll be captaining an ER to Europe after only 6 years at this company. We couldn't dream of that. So I don't think a few extra pilots staying 2 extra years is really going to put you out that much, but it's going to be a huge difference to make us whole. Fortunately, congress is listening to us and our lobbyists, not you or ALPO.
You actually said “In my day” which is hilarious.
No amount of money will make you “whole”. It’s a pride thing.
Where you came from and what you did before coming here absolutely matters! A career is a whole. Pilots were impacted by bankruptcy who weren’t here yet.

Guess what, NB? I don’t care what happened to you at Delta before I got here. None of it matters.

BTW, CX500: Great life story. I’ll fly with you anytime over some boring Nick B type who has nothing but negative vibes and Delta stories.

what happened to you before we got here doesn’t matter, either. We don’t owe you anything for your struggles.
If the struggles of the lost decade pilots don’t matter, the struggles of the self described “deadzoners” shouldn’t either.

I actually don't think he was ever furloughed. He's never answered me when I question him about it.. always just nebulously refers to other pilots.

6 Yrs he’s around 55% company wise. So he should be somewhere around 9,000-9500 seniority. It’s not his fault that 8999 pilots senior to him doesn’t want the left seat of the ER.

ATL 320b has around 100-150 pilots senior to 9,000 and some could even be WB CA if they wanted. JR 13500 ER CA will stay stuck for some time on Reserve.

It’s like the Regional Street CA, it’s all great with money and bonuses, then senior pilots start upgrading and they are in the bottom screaming. I can assure you, some of them are not happy to be working on the holidays for at least 5-8 more yrs. That’s a lot of time with the family gone.

Yesterday a 60yr old CA died, man but those 2 more yrs to 67 are more important to some.

Covid was a strange phenomena in our industry. The Veop helped most of the pilots in property. If Delta would’ve kept most of them we would’ve seen all these JR CAs. We wouldn’t hired more 4,000 pilots in 2 yrs. If the government wouldn’t gave money like crazy, all this profit in 2023 wouldn’t happened.

I for once I’m grateful for the good things. But there has to be some perspective, some people got it more worse than you and some will have it easier. If you have kids, they are the ones having it easier, so you bashing the JR guys is like bashing your kids and their generation.

You realize a lot of the reason me and others were "not here" was because you guys voted away bottome end scope and caused the RJ issue right?

I don't care what happened to you before I got to Delta, because you have stated you don't care what happened to me before Delta, even though a lot of it was in fact attributable to the bottom end scope decisions made by pilots before my time.

The loudest screamers of "I need X MORE YEARS" are invariably the guys who complain about the under-30 new hires, when they were hired under 30.. Often well under 30.

A few of the largest 65+ screamers I flew with, that now have retirement pics up in the JFK lounge or have recently, who complained about the under 30 year old New Hires, well, thier pics state "Captain X has flown X Y Z aircraft in their 35-40 years of service at Delta"

Which means, they too were hired under 30.

Applying your "What happended before your DOH doesn't matter" goes both ways.

Also, when self proclaimed DZers who "need more time" show me pics of their multi million dollar house, their vacation house that is bigger/nicer than my actual house, and their Class A RV/Airplane/Boat you can't pull with a pickup.. It falls on deaf ears. Yeah. You might have to sell you $3M house in Smokerise NJ and move into your $800k condo in Florida.

Only their struggle counts my friend. Not yours.

And I’m not even being sarcastic, unfortunately. He said it.

Empathy only goes one way apparently, and it’s up to future generations of pilots to make sure it starts to go both ways.

I am kind of weird, so it's probably a bimodal distribution of "cool, not a BoomerMeme DZ Captain with cell phone holster and New Balance" and "jesus, where did we find this guy.. Some lab is missing it's mad scientist" with not a lot in the middle.

My wife descibes me as "Redneck Sheldon" (Big Bang Theory reference) which is funny because she is an Ivy League graduate uber-geek who somewhat resembles the woman who plays Sheldon's girlfriend.
