This industry and by extension this career is a series of waves. Waves crest and there are troughs. Maybe the crest of this wave lasts a while and we all make out alright. Maybe it doesn’t. But hey, that’s the airlines.

The ER Categories have been relegated to 3 coastal bases(LAX/ATL/NYC). As WB movement accelerates I doubt there will be any need for MD on the ER as the 350 and 330 growth creates enough movement for the ER to shrink thru attrition.

Agree. Unlike almost any other equipment retired from service, the ER is going to have a sizable portion of the category replaced by a much higher paying airplane, which will “take care of” the senior folks, A or B. Until the final closures of each base, there won’t be many displacements, much less secondary displacements.

I don't see any of the 13-14xxx capts getting straight downgraded, but they'll have to bid 320/737 or other. 100 NEOs and 100 maxes still to come.

If 67 is approved, there will be 0 mandatory retirements for 2 years.
Less retirements mean less movement. Times are good and there has been a lot of movement, but things would slow. We don’t really know how much. Why are you so upset with people who don’t want their career progression to slow?

Oh no. Junior won't make ER Captain after a year any more because some of the guys who took 15 years to hold that get 2 more years in the seat and can actually still hold a medical. What a rip off.

Oh no, the guy who upgraded to Captain in ATL in 2 years may have to sit on reserve 2 extra years because the guy who couldn't even hold 88 Captain in ATL for 10 years gets 2 more years if he can hold a medical. What a tragedy. So unfair.

I wasn’t talking about 67 and “stagnation”, JB. I was commenting on The ER slowly being replaced (in part) by a WB paying true WB rates.

Even you don’t believe there won’t be some stagnation if 67 happens, you just don’t care. Which is your right.

you seem to like to liken the stagnation with new hire captains. Well riddle me this: how bout #5000 captain midrange seniority on a NB who’s movement will absolutely be stagnated when you guys aren’t allowed to fly intl anymore and get forced to a NB, or those senior on the NB that now won’t retire.

Many of those midrange guys that were already slowed by age 65 and are now seeing some movement. You gonna tell me they won’t see any stagnation? Again?!?
