Great, I don't have to stand around after arrival and management isn't hurt. That sounds like a win-win.

I hear it’s bad for PB’s blood pressure…

So your argument is the company doesn't care so I should go back to wasting my time standing at the door? My ego doesn't need it and I'm not getting paid so. It's still a no. But thanks for reinforcing my choice

I have a sneeking suspicion that part of senior management's pay and/or bonuses are partially based on NPS.

Your pay is entirely based on people choosing Delta over other air lines. It is a lot harder to get new business than it is to keep current business. I don't care what you do personally, but you need Delta to survive and thrive. I don't. Every little bit makes a difference, but I'm sure you'll be ok.

And having flown Delta, AA, United and Southwest in the last year, I can assure you no one says. "well gee, the pilots didn't stand in the door and let me inflate their ego?! I'll never fly this company again!"

But assuming they do care as you insinuate, management's pay is much more connected to repeat business than ours. So technically, unlike your passive aggressive response, your logic would mean that management WOULD actually care. The only part of our pay that is directly connected to ticket sales is profit sharing.

Just because someone says goodbye to people they are looking to boost their ego? That’s a pretty big leap.

Well, taking that to the next level, I guess I shouldn't have gone on strike in '98. NWA needed to survive, thrive, and all that.

I'll admit it, by this time in my career I'm a bit jaded. I've always been a tad uneasy standing at the cockpit door saying "goodbye". In my mind it screams "Look at me, look me! I'm a Delta pilot!" Who cares? I'd rather focus on making sure the engines are shut down, the airplane isn't rolling on its own, and my personal things are packed away. I know that standing at the door doesn't promote an unsafe operation, but with management's spite driven attitudes, I'm certainly not going to do it. You are free to choose otherwise. Obviously not everyone agrees with my assessment, and that's perfectly alright. However, if PB feels strongly that I should be standing at the door in my new uniform saying my "Goodbye, thanks for flying Delta", then I really don't care. I'd rather see his focus be upon taking care of the pilot, who'll in turn take care of the customer.

Just my 2 cents

This 100%! Oh, you're spitefully interpreting the contract to "show the pilot group who is in charge?" I mean, just look at what they did with regards to arrival meals. It's NEVER been an issue until we signed the new contract. Now it's, "the contract doesn't say it so, guess you're out of luck!" If they want to be vengeful children, I have no problem returning the favor.

It's weird, the company is complying with all the big ticket expensive items but are going to war over a few relatively minor contract items that cost very little to them. This uniform debacle alone will likely cost 10x what the grievance items combined would cost.
