I anticipate my top marginal tax rate for 2024 to be 24% . At that rate I’m not looking to defer taxes on my income.
I have a long time horizon til retirement. This plan definitely has its advantages, but it skews in favor of those with a shorter time til retirement. I plan to contribute more as I get older and relative safety of the MBCBP is more attractive.

lower rate of return vs historical return of other investments. (In exchange for a safer investment)

Somebody's kid was playing with AI prompts. It reads like someone instructed Chat GPT
"Write an article about becoming a Delta pilot, but make it sound like I'm 14 years old with no real grasp on the industry."
Any guesses at the Dall-E-3 prompt for the pilot image?

Looking at the bid awards in November on the 73N, I’m a little perplexed as a new guy. In MSP, the bottom 5/6 pilots have lines with very little coverage awards (and with Thanksgiving off). In ATL, the bottom 40ish or so are reserve (with almost no coverage awards), and lots of coverage awards when you do get to the bottom lineholders.
Why is holding a line so much more senior in ATL? Is it just that there are a lot of commuters from Florida, whereas not a lot of commuters to the traditionally more senior MSP base? Is the flying less appealing in ATL?

The IRS just published the 2024 Limits
415C limit $69,000
401K limit $23,000
Catch Up remains $7,500
Compensation Limit $345,000
2024 Retirement Plan Contribution Limits
415C limit $69,000
401K limit $23,000
Catch Up remains $7,500
Compensation Limit $345,000
2024 Retirement Plan Contribution Limits
Nice to see that the IRS is giving a wink and a nod to actual inflation.
Wall street wants/needs the $$$.
Incredible to be working in a profession that allows this sort of adjustment.
