Each PCS run does 2 loops. So a trip can drop off somebody else’s schedule (for any number of reasons) on loop 1, and then your swap can go through on loop 2…faster than a human can see it.
Blind swaps are good, but carry some risk. Targeted rotation/date swaps are better, but require effort to insert them. John Bell’s website has rotations listed on it for those inclined to go filtering.
Much easier to generate swap requests in a small category, but larger categories have more churn.
Don’t discount the swap board. Entirely different animal than Swap with Pot. Can also be part of a sked improvement strategy.

Trip swaps are only for line holders. As a reserve once you are assigned a rotation the only 2 ways to get out of it are to get sick or do a GS a day or two prior that either conflicts with the assigned trip or forces the drop due to PB days being applied to those LC days.

Same run....it's magical
I flew with a bottom feeder line holder that had the most primo trips. He culled all the trips he wanted to fly and loaded more than 300 swap with the pot trading his initial crap for really senior trips. He said he spent about an hour inputting it while watching his kids watch a movie. His logic was 1 hour of "pain" to input for a month of superb trips.

A much more costly, operationally-disruptive problem for the company than it was for the pilot group. Eliminating batch sizes should have only been offered to the company with a giant price tag attached.
The MEC displayed extreme weakness, and we’re now seeing the company further attempt to steamroll them.

we got the language when it was a “good price” and sold it for next to nothing. It’s just not worth it right now to get it back. same logic as if I got absolutely ripped off selling my car to a dealer and they had it for sale for 3x what I sold it for, I would not rush to go buy it back from them.
