Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2
#261
I have never heard anyone including the CP say they interpret promptly available to be able to report in under an hour ( with the exception that if I am not contactable for the first 2 hours of my SC, I need to be immediately available at the end of that 2 hour peroid)
Edit: I see you edited while I was responding and we're on the same page.

Hence my edit. But there is no standing to turn a rotation down. As long as you’re there within 2 hours, you’ll be fine and the posted report time doesn’t really matter. They just want you there as soon as you can make it.

Agree, and I didn’t intend to say it was a hard limit. It’s just the understood approximate timeframe that will keep one out of trouble.

Well I was already in the airport and ready to go so there was no reason to arbitrarily push the departure time.
Does that mean I want to let the camel’s nose that is airport reserve into the tent even if we only volunteer for it? Hell to the **** no.
Eventually down the line the company will complain that not enough people are volunteering for airport reserve and it’s affecting the operation and they can’t possibly be expected to stay competitive without a sufficient number of airport reserves And oh by the way United does it so there’s industry precedent so it’s not like they want something that’s unreasonable…
Keep all of the garbage regionalisms at the regionals.
RG is hellbent on making Delta a giant regional anyway, so you’ll probably get your wish eventually though.

No, I like this one. Until he’s out of management completely he’s a bad actor who is making this job worse.
Also, I heard that in his new role he created a policy to incentivize dispatchers to save on fuel, so they have been routing us ways that don’t make sense based on the weather. Any truth to that?
I don’t know where he works anymore, so no idea if that’s even within the realm of possibility, but I had a captain give me a nice long rant about it.
