Lounge access is like nonreving. Everything is oversold and over crowded and if you thought you'd have a spot over a paying customer you are dreaming.

I wonder what is going to happen when/if American Express decides to put the screws to DAL and threaten to go elsewhere if we don't give them a better deal. Or for that matter... what happens if they DO go elsewhere. Sure seems to me that we have a lot riding on that relationship.

I BOUGHT a membership. No credit card perks involved. I'm still kicked out like the rest of you unwashed thugs.

Sky Clubs aren't the only overcrowded lounges. Centurian lounges are just as bad. United and American also have overcrowding problems. Amex also has plenty riding on the relationship. There is a massive amount of spending on DAL branded cards in the pursuit of SkyMiles. IIRC we came to the table and bailed them out around the time Costco left Amex for Citibank. Delta has plenty of leverage and could strike a similar deal with Citi, Chase, etc. Amex brands themselves as a premium credit card, which pairs well with Delta as the leading airline. I don't see the relationship going sideways for something as simple as overcrowded lounges.

Oh I wasn't saying overcrowded lounges are going to do anything to move a needle. I'm just talking about bottom line business. Everybody is looking for mo' money. Big businesses especially. So if AMEX can find a few more dollars by changing dance partners, why wouldn't they? Right now DAL is the prettiest pup in the litter, but that can change. It is the height of arrogance to believe this relationship is inviolable. Didn't we lose some (one?) of our Chinese JV partners in the last few years? I'm just saying that it seems we have a lot riding on this relationship, and a divorce could be really ugly.

It’s more than a “few” hundred $$$ for those perks. In a world where people drop $3k on tickets for ****ty seats to Taylor swift concert all over the nation proves that the populace has plenty of $$$ to drop for what they perceive as a valuable perk.

A lot of truth here. FOr some time now, I have noticed small CHILDREN riding in those $10,000+ Delta One seats on the way to... wherever. Yeah. There is a stupid lot of money out there.

I never complained about losing access. I just didn't like the messaging. Delta made it sound like they were going to fix the problem by not allowing employees in. That implied that the employees were the problem. We weren't. Delta over-promised, under-delivered, and then put in a half-ass effort to fix the problem. At the end of the day, there is still a long line of unhappy premium customers that Delta isn't addressing.

It really is just a few hundred bucks for the cards that confer club access. I paid $725 for my Amex Platinum plus another $175 for the wife and two kids. It came with several benefits like Uber credits, digital entertainment credits, cell phone insurance and Global Entry that offset much of the annual fee. There are some other marginal benefits like the Saks credit, Fine Hotels credit,.Clear enrollment fee credit as well. Topping it off you can use the $200 airline fee credit to make a BCRF donation in October for a tax deduction.

The net cost for club access is a few bucks at most. We were literally giving it away. I cancelled my card out of protest, not over the value. It's probably worth it without club access.

On a 6 day international trip that just got shortened to 4 days. Credit on my time card went from 36:05 to 21:00. I thought we were pay protected? Should this get fixed manually after close out or should I make a call?

I’m looking at section 12 L. Specifically 12 L.2.f.

TIA!
