There have been a time or two that my flight has been payload optimized after the flight plan was issued. I asked the dispatcher about it, and he said the decision wasn't made by the load planner before he sent the flight plan, and that's the reason it wasn't listed there as a "Payload Optimized" flight. Maybe it was late cargo, temp or wind was different than expected, he didn't know why load control did that (they are the ones deciding that apparently). It happened about 40 minutes before departure - this was a domestic flight.

Default AMEX Skymiles Card

Looking at getting the skymiles credit card (gold). Should I just apply through the AMEX site or is there an application in deltanet I should use. I could not find any info on deltanet as far as employees applying for the card and was wondering if it is there and would be more advantageous.

FYI I am looking at the gold card because best I can tell it will build the most points with purchases.
Thanks!

Edit: I found the delta branded amex gold on delta perks with no annual fee, looks to have the same level of benefits as the amex gold but not the large introductory point level.

See you edit this but yes absolutely do it through delta perks. No annual fee. Had it a few years but I switched all my spending to my Marriott card over wanting skymiles.

Other than the current perk of 40,000 Skymiles with $3000 spend, is there any other motivation for getting the card? It seems like another card with 2 or 3% cash back would be a better use, no? And I think Chase has a travel card with better miles accrual that can be used across multiple airlines. Curious to know if I'm missing something here.

Edit: It appears that I overlooked the 15% discount on miles redemption for a ticket. Does anyone know if this applies to the FlyConfirmed fares?

I am no expert on credit cards. Right now I have a hotel card through Chase. I am looking to start accumulating miles for retirement.

The Delta employee card has no annual fee and you get $100 credit a year for tickets with a small minimum spending level. It accrues points as well or better than any of the other skymiles cards. And as you mentioned you get the 15% discount. I did see the chase travel card and it does accrue points a little better but figured with no annual fee I would start with this one and see how it goes.

Anyone have any experience in getting COVID post NFLY? PWA appears to say submit a positive test and the sick call doesn’t count for the look back, but how do you submit the test? Emailed the chief pilot last week, no answer…. Placed a daily call to the duty pilot over the last 3 days but he never once picked up so APC it is I guess TIA

I just submitted a pic of my positive at home test to the normal sick verification email. Seemed to work.

it’s messy now. follow guidance in the covid policy document. company now requires a proctored exam. best to go through chief pilot’s office and get in touch with union if there is pushback from the company.

Whoa at first glance I thought you were talking about a very different type of exam. I thought, man I hope I never get Covid.

Anyone hear anything new about how the non-rev lounge black-listing is going?
