Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2

This is probably going to require some briefing items from Captains. I went through this a couple of times on the ER when we were supposed to have meals. Some CAs won't engage with the FAs to make sure the meals are on, and when they'd like to eat, etc. Looking through the bid pack, that's probably going require some more thought to that.

So how is this crew meals thing actually going to work domestically? I guess all it means to the company is 2 extra meals will be catered. And probably not the most popular choices. Hope you like impossible burgers and shrimp salads or grilled vegetables and burrata cheese. The passengers and non revs will still get first pick, then the FAs eat their pick of the leftovers. Maybe they have 2 meals "since there's so many left over" or mix and match from the trays. Then an hour from landing, if we call them and beg, they'll offer us some leftover leftovers. Or maybe they say nothing was left. I hate to be negative about this, but most of that is currently how it goes with most of the FAs.
It would be nice if we had a policy like United and could pick our meal ahead of time with our name on it. But of course, we'll get 'em next time on that. I bet we get a lot of $10 excuses too.
Some guidance from the union or the company would help. Maybe a memo to the FAs too. This takes effect in a month.

See above. All this is going to do is create more dissension between front and back if the company and union don't agree to and publish a policy before the implementation date. August 1 isn't when they want to convene the tiger team.

But that's the point. It is your problem. It's all of our problem. Why should we have to create conflict with an employee group that's primed to write us up, just to exercise a contractural benefit?
That's why we have a union. So as not to have to represent ourselves every day and personally fight everyone all the time.

Any FA who wants to write me up for checking on the status & stating my choice of meal can certainly do so. Knock themselves out, in fact. The company can "listen" to them all it wants--and if they want to call me to discuss, I'll be more than happy to collect 5:15 to do so. I'll be even happier if they choose to drop a trip to make it happen. What exactly do you think would come of that??

This is what works for me:
At the END of the briefing, if I know we’re supposed to get crew meals, I say, “hey, me and the copilot hadn’t eaten this morning/all day/etc. we see we’re supposed to get crew meals on this flight. Can you check and make sure they’re loaded? When you’re done with service, can we do a break/pass them up/etc.”
Say it with a smile, set the tone, make them aware, say it last (law of recency). 60% of the time it works every time.

Imagine being this scared of being W-R-I-T-T-E-N U-P. This is going on your permanent record and you’ll never get into college now!

Nobody likes a carpet dance. Even at 5:15 pay. And we all know that once you get on the radar at this company, they tend to "find" other things you did that they don't like. We also know that if push comes to shove, the FAs are going to win every time, because the company will give them anything to keep AFA off the property.
All I'm saying is why not ask the union to discuss a clear policy with the company so we don't have to take matters into our own hands. But by all means, post how you think that's dumb and we should all just go rogue.
