The bias towards the negatives are hilarious. Folks on here routinely pointed at new hires on the Widebodies at UAL being a positive but when it happens at Delta it's a bad sign. I get that this is a healthy place to vent and all, but some of this is getting silly. I mean a couple posts up folks were talking about how long it takes to hold lineholder WB at a time when the Pacific remains in Lockdown and Europe is just starting to recover.

Some can't see the forest for the trees. Enterprising pilots with long term vision will take advantage of the opportunity. The opportunities over the next few years for Delta pilots will exceed what there has been in a Generation. Bid what you want, want what you Bid

The 765 is due to the mostly domestic recently, IMO. The 330 and 350 are still vastly international, so they will stay more senior. And don’t forget the massive amount of seat locks around the system right now, starting with every bid since the MOAD, and the massive bids from last March and the reshuffle in April that are still only a year into seat locks.

This and the fact that, precovid, NY 765 had double uncommutable 2-day trips permanently. It’s been years since that category was a pure international bid packet.

When that changes, expect the category to go back to historical seniority.

June bid pack has the two day trips down to 2% for As and 3%for Bs of the NYC bid pack. MAD, NCE, and a ton of LHR.

Ok Trip, I don’t always agree with your posts, and your pro company bias can be frustrating at times (sorry, I respect your opinions, but it can’t always be sunshine and rainbows) but you’re absolutely correct on this one. Two pages ago, new hires on the 787 at UAL was something to aspire to for us, and when new hires are getting the 765 here, it’s a bad thing all of a sudden?

It’s about fleets and the greater number United has. Yes a NH may get a 7ER (same pay now as a 321) and we’ve had 2 I think 765 NH spots. I’d love to see half the NHs go to WBs. When it happens here it’s because of crappy domestic trips and a commute to NYC. When it happens at United it’s because of all the WBs and that is a standard in their NH offering. Trip knows he’s being disingenuous. There was a time when the 765 was a coveted FO spot for the Europe layovers, pay and productivity. That is no longer the case. A NH getting it before they step on property is a “bat signal” for troubled times and how undesirable the flying has become.

Just a few thoughts,

1) all of our bottom 1800 pilots plus quite a few senior to that are seat locked and unable to bid the 765 here for that reason.

2) a seat lock at UAL does not prevent you from moving up in equipment, so just about every 737, 320, and 757/767 FO at UAL decided WB FO is not worth it.

3) part of the reason why probably has to do with the fact that at UA, on global fleets, all of your off days except 6 can be moved at the company’s discretion on reserve.

Talked to 3 buddies, all on WB at UAL, all on reserve. All said it never happens and there are a ton of caveats…..

Global reserve is probably 90% of why the reserve international positions go so junior. It’s hated with a passion at UAL.

huh, interesting. I’ve got a few friends there (NB) who have said that’s their biggest hang up about bidding WB.
