Yeah there's an Open Time board where you can swap and pick up trips. It's not "exactly" in real time. Requests are processed at specific times of day, known as PCS runs.

To add to this, there is (archaic) automation involved. As stated, PCS (“Pilot Change Schedule”) runs 4x a day, and currently the last chance to pickup via PCS is 0700 the day prior. Starting in June, it will be 0700 TWO days prior. After that, you can still pickup a trip, but it’s via a different awarding process with an automated phone callout system. Everything is seniority order within “runs”. There are pilots who drop their entire schedule and rebuild it via these two “systems”, usually with “broken” smaller sections of trips. Hope that helps.

You can still PCS up to 1 day prior in June, but scheduling will be trying to manually cover that trip at the same time so maybe not very likely to be able to PS in to it etc.

Thanks guys! That helps. Is there any premium ever associated with the open time board, or is that available via GS phone calls only? Also, with swapping trips with open time, is there a limitation where you can only swap for trips on the same day, or can you trade something like a 3 day for another 3 day on different days? Subject to reserve coverage?

Yes, just a fellow with an interview coming up, figuring out how the schedule flexibility and all that works. I live and die by the open time board at my current gig (dropped my whole schedule this month and am just flying open time) so this is one section of y’all’s contract that is very interesting to me. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

New PWA allows the company to offer premium open time in certain scenarios, but we haven't seen it yet.

There are limitations but its not based on days, its based on reserve coverage. As long as the days you are picking up are worse coverage than the days you are trying to drop, the swap will go through. There are restrictions around certain holidays regardless of how the coverage looks like.

There is also an additional way to pickup trips without the PCS stipulations known as the pilot to pilot swap board. Pickups on this board will allow a pilot to exceed the max pickup limit(Average Line Value +15 hrs) and ajm as much time on their schedule as they are legal for. NB will get throttled by FAR's but WB with long DH 120-130hrs is feasible(If one wants to be gone that much). Additionally they are automatic as far as timing and not subject to the PCS run time stipulations. You can post your trips here for "drop"(which might be stymied by lack of coverage in PCS) and might prove to be the "cats meow" for somebody looking to pick up a trip that they would be ineligible for on PCS. So, several ways to skin the cat ,so to speak.

Just a point of clarification around SWAP W POT at Delta in case some at Delta are reading this, there is no holiday carveouts for swaps unless that is a recent PWA "improvement" as I have twice in the past gotten Christmas Day trips off by trading for a trip over an earlier weekend in December that had even slightly worse coverage.

Usually when the schedules first come out, the holiday is better covered than normal weekends because of the reserves that are required and unstacked during the PBS process. Over the course of the month that can change, but often you can swap out of the holiday, especially if your willing to trade a 3 day holiday trip with a 4 or 5 day over another weekend.

And to further clarify for non-delta folks, It's not that you can't swap with pot over the holidays (2 days before and one day after), it's just the formula changes.

Non holiday you just need the cumulative to be worse, but the holiday application requires it on a day to day basis.

I’ve been lurking on the forums for a few weeks now and just noticed your username. I too have flown the Cap 10 at DWC. What your did you graduate?
