Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2

They haven’t announced it yet. If they don’t start throttling the May classes now then what would shrinking the new hire/Indoc classes over the summer itself accomplish?

Yes 1000 is a very good year, but if you go back to pre-merger 1000 Pilots at DAL and NW combined was not a big deal. I have no idea what the pre-merger high of both combined airlines was but we had a few +1000 years at Delta alone. For reference we peaked at something like 10,100 total Pilots or so at Delta and I believe NW hit around 7000. We were however considerably smaller at the merger.

The average, 1990 thru 2000, was 612 hired per year.
Delta alone peak was 1,027 in 1997. The next highest was 812 in 2000.

Delta "Free Money"
If you jumped through the hoops for free money in your workplace savings account, double check that backup withholding was not selected by default. It appears my account was automatically enrolled in backup withholding.

Great info. Since Delta alone hire over 1000 I would have thought the combined total would have been a lot higher 1360. I guess the hiring peaked at different years for both airlines. In any case it really makes a 1500+ year that much more impressive.
